Picture Problems

I wrote this blog today of how far I've come in improving my pictures. I know that I could learn a lot more, so if anyone has any ideas for me, I'd appreciate it! Also, if any of you have written any blogs about this problem, please share!

Re: Picture Problems

Thanks OhKuol! I will look into making a lightbox! Thanks for the suggestion. I usually shoot my photos on the automatic setting with the macro mode on. I always use it on macro mode. Otherwise there are a few times where I will turn it on the manual setting, and mess with the WB and exposure.

Thanks Paulacelaya for the recommendation of Photoscape! I'll look into that also!

Re: Picture Problems

It might do you good to take photos of your earrings at more of an angle and a bit closer up. When I was making jewelry for my shop I took the pictures outside and that always seemed to provide just the right lighting, my only problem was making sure not to photograph my shadow.:) But you could use a poster board or something like it for background. I also started taking pics with props like this: http://www.etsy.com/transaction/32290106 And it looked pretty good. But when taking a photo of jewelry laying flat I think they can be made to look more appealing when the photo is taken at and angle and the jewelry (specifically earrings) are not placed perfectly side by side, more at a slant next to one another.
My favorite photo blog posts:

Hope that helps:)

Re: Picture Problems

Wow! Thanks for your suggestions Davs! When I was taking the pictures of my earrings I thought about using a teacup or something to hang them from... I just didn't do it. I guess I was lazy. Anyway, I'll have to try that or use a plate like you did. That was cool. Also, I've read all of the blog posts that you suggested. I know I have improved, but I have a long way to go! Thank you so much for your help!
