I see so many questions about photography and while my pictures aren't perfect by any means, I thought I'd share some things that have helped me with my jewelry photos:
* Use indirect sunlight, set up next to a window where there is natural light but not where light is coming directly into.
* Make sure you have a clean background and pay attention to texture, color, props, etc. Get creative with your props and always think about what you want your "style" to look like.
* Use flower mode for close up shots of anything - this makes a HUGE difference.
* If your digital camera is newer, see if you have a setting for brightness, on mine it looks like this: +/-, experiment with increasing the brightness, especially if your pictures are coming out dark (it also helps eliminate some shadows).
* Try different angles, show the back sides of things, make sure you are taking pictures of everything. Use all 5 photo spaces Etsy allows you to have.
* I choose not to edit my photos (besides cropping) on the computer, I want people to see exactly what they are going to get. A little shadow isn't a bad thing, it makes the piece look real and tangible.
* Don't settle, if you aren't happy with the pictures you took, try taking them again.
* Have fun!
Hope this helps!
