PLEASE HELP! Where am I going wrong?!

Is it my prices? Is it my art? Should I be putting the images onto things like t-shirts, cards, etc? I've had listings for months, with many hearts, and they still haven't sold! Please help! Thanks!

Re: PLEASE HELP! Where am I going wrong?!

Sara - I don't know a lot about selling art but I did look at your shop and my first brief comment is that I think you should frame your prints and photograph them in the room environment. Buyers need to be able to see clearly what they are buying because they cannot touch and feel the item. Make is easy for them to envision your print in their home. Make a collection and show them as a group. The prints are very cute and would look great in someones small apartment. I don't think your prices are off - if anything they are too low for the original prints. If you frame them you can sell them framed and unframed. Also, in my opinion it isn't the product or price so much as needing to promote that gets people to your store. Once that happens often enough you will get the sales. Of course, I have been open for seven months and only recently got my first sales.... so what do I know ;-)

Good luck, Babs

I agree 100% with Babs... get yourself a FB page at the very least (if you haven't already) and promote promote promote! Join teams that focus on promotion (there are sooo many). Network with other Etsians.

The only other point I'd make is work on your SEO. This is a fantastic resourse: http://www.etsy.com/blog/en/2009/etsy-guide-to-seo/

Ok, I lied, one more point - the more listings you have, the more entry points into your store. And therefore Google likes you better and you'll show up more in searches. Get a Google Analytics account to help you analyze how people are getting to your shop.

Good luck!

That's interesting about google - and the more listings you have. I just can't seem to get noticed as much as I would like. Perhaps I'm just in a competitive field.

Re: PLEASE HELP! Where am I going wrong?!

logolady - you only have two listings!! The more you have, the more you sell - that's why 100 is the "magic" listing. Maybe instead of just "custom logo" as a listing, also have several pre-made logos to choose from. You've got several choices in those 2 listings... spread them out with an exact cost of each. Maybe also expand to banners and avatars? Again, work on your SEO.

Good luck!

Re: PLEASE HELP! Where am I going wrong?!

Sara,
I think your shop is cute, love the elephant with the hearts:)
I agree with Barbie about frames, although I think if you cant spend the money on framing them right away, consistent angles and brightness in your shop would even allow you to raise your prices.
With the originals, I would probably like to see a very close up image first of the artwork, if its not in a frame, so distractions on the sides. I think they would get in more treasuries:)
Good Luck!

PS I think this is cute with the hint of a thumb to show the size of an aceo and I love the brightness, very cool art and photo:)

Re: PLEASE HELP! Where am I going wrong?!

logo - better!!

Think of it this way... when you walk into a store, if there is onlly 2 items to choose from and neither are really what you're looking for, are you going to buy? Not likely. So the more you have, the more variety you have, the more likely you are to have what somebody might want.

Now, work on your SEO - use all 13 tags provided to you, longer more thorough description (how did you come up with design, what tools did you use, how will the buyer receive it - answer all the questions a buyer might have). Again, this is a fantastic resource (I re-read it every time I list a new item!): www.etsy.com/blog/en/2009/etsy-guide-to-seo/
