This team is dedicated to sharing business advice in a supportive environment. From the day you first set up your shop to the day you think about quitting your day job, there's so much to learn. Luckily, one of the best things about selling on Etsy is the support and encouragement from other sellers.

Whether you’re brand new to selling on Etsy or you can count the years on both of your hands, you probably have some milestones that you’d like to celebrate with all of us. Post your milestone in this thread. Every month, we'll highlight some of our favorite posts, so join the celebrations!

Please also introduce yourself in your post if you’re new to the Etsy Success Team—describe what you sell and how long your shop has been open.

Here are some examples of milestones (but remember that all personal milestones big or small are worthy of celebrating!):

• You made your 1st sale / 1st international sale / 1st custom order
• You reached (x) # of sales
• You added (x) # of listings in your shop
• You have (x) # of views / favorites / admirers
• You received positive feedback from a buyer
• Your shop was featured in the press or in social media
• You recently opened your shop
• You’re celebrating your Etsyversary

Re: Official Success Celebration Thread!

I started my shop in Feb of this year. I honestly thought it would be easier- I didn't do my research until AFTER opening. BUT I have done my homework and still continue to learn new ways of promoting and getting out there. This has been the most exciting thing I have done for myself in awhile and I am very positive about the whole thing. I never thought I would be called an artisan, it just goes to show that if you think you can do it YOU CAN!! I am super grateful for all the other more experienced shop owners who help lead- THANK YOU!

Re: Official Success Celebration Thread!

When I mailed an order to a customer this morning, it meant that I had reached my goal of selling 10 items by the time that my shop had been open for a year. I even have two months left to hopefully sell a few more. :) :)

Re: Official Success Celebration Thread!

We have been on Etsy for about 10 months now, with very little success. I am convinced we should continue on this path, but could use some input from others to help us know how to promote, make changes??, etc. We do have a facebook page also: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Advantage-Glass
which I am working on trying to promote more also.

Any thoughts, suggestions, critique are welcome. I am pleased to have found this group of successful Etsy users.

Re: Official Success Celebration Thread!

I opened my shop on Feb 2010 officially, although I wanted to open it in 2007! I am a graphic designer by profession but I learned how to knit and crotchet since I was a child. I taught myself hot to design jewelry in 2005, and finally I started Etsy shop in 2010.

I have international clients, and last year I made so many custom order designs for one of them which as a designer was most rewarding to design for a person who gives you freedom and trust your design sense.

there are still so much I need to learn on Etsy I feel. I just sold my 232 piece this Sunday.

I have 750 followers on FB on my page. Some clients found my Etsy shop through my Facebook business page:

Re: Official Success Celebration Thread!

Hi! I'm Jana
I opened my shop in 2009 but didn't really do anything with it until 2011. I sell jersey knit headbands and love making them! I'm still trying to find that one thing that makes my shop stand out though!

I just completed my first craft fair! It was a lot of fun and I made some great contacts. There wasn't a whole lot of traffic but I learned so much!

I'm also really trying to reach out more on social media and hoping to hit 500 followers on my instagram page! So if you want to follow :)

I love having my etsy shop and connecting with so many great people who believe in handmade!

Re: Official Success Celebration Thread!

Hi , We sell beading supplies. We have now had 3 sales. But it is very slow. I have listed 70 items already. I am seeing many favorites or following. But I am not sure how to get people to make purchases. Is there something I am missing? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Official Success Celebration Thread!

I opened my shop a few weeks ago and created a facebook page for it. I need advice on how to get more traffic and views plus how to promote my facebook page. So far, all I have are family and friends but I need others to like my page and find me on etsy. Any advice?

Re: Official Success Celebration Thread!

I was lucky enough to have been chosen to be a part of NY Fashion Week Benefit showcasing my jewelry collection at the runway last month sponsored by The Set NYC and Freedom. It was a great experience and exposure for my handmade jewelries.

This coming November, I was chosen as one of the featured artists for CURRENT: Brooklyn Night Bazaar as part of the RAWartists.org social media art show. I am so excited! I am truly grateful :-) :-) :-)

Let's all continue to dream big!

Re: Official Success Celebration Thread!

Never give up is my mantra!! It took me 7 years, and yesterday was my 7 year anniversary on Etsy I opened October 16th 2007 and just made my 1500 sale. WOW!

I didn't really understand how it all worked, so slowly I worked my store, since I did have a working website, and still do, but liked ETSY because of the networking, support, and easiness, of the site!

I do have a Facebook page, personal and business, pintrest, and twitter, and find that all these wonderful connections can really make your dreams come true if you are patient, and truly believe in yourself and your product. Have respect for your business, and work it like a full time job, it will reward you!

Never give up!

Cindy :)

Re: Official Success Celebration Thread!

It's been slow-going but since opening in April, I have ~1,500 views, 200 favorites, 4 (soon-to-be 5 orders) and two positive reviews. Hopefully my shop will pick up some steam because the victories above were hard-earned...

Re: Official Success Celebration Thread!

I successfully got my FIRST sale within 3 weeks of actually starting my etsy shop! I opened my shop over a year ago, but life got real busy so I never did anything until now! Feels really good that someone admires my jewelry and it just makes me motivated to keep going!

Best of luck to you all!
