This team is dedicated to sharing business advice in a supportive environment. From the day you first set up your shop to the day you think about quitting your day job, there's so much to learn. Luckily, one of the best things about selling on Etsy is the support and encouragement from other sellers.

Whether you’re brand new to selling on Etsy or you can count the years on both of your hands, you probably have some milestones that you’d like to celebrate with all of us. Post your milestone in this thread. Every month, we'll highlight some of our favorite posts, so join the celebrations!

Please also introduce yourself in your post if you’re new to the Etsy Success Team—describe what you sell and how long your shop has been open.

Here are some examples of milestones (but remember that all personal milestones big or small are worthy of celebrating!):

• You made your 1st sale / 1st international sale / 1st custom order
• You reached (x) # of sales
• You added (x) # of listings in your shop
• You have (x) # of views / favorites / admirers
• You received positive feedback from a buyer
• Your shop was featured in the press or in social media

Re: Official Success Celebration Thread!

Worth saying ♦'YAY'♦ for a sale with wonderful, personalized feedback... Especially when the last sale (the buyer) was non responsive no matter how you tried to respectfully serve them. Still learning...

Re: Official Success Celebration Thread!

Ok so here's what's up...

I made my very first sales this morning.. can I get a Woot Woot!!!!!

Which makes up for the fact that that tomorrow is father's day. I hate hate hate father's day. I lost my Daddy four years ago and I'll just go ahead and say it...it doesn't get better with time. Not yet anyway. I was fully prepared to keep my nose down and crank out some pillows for the shop today. Instead, I got a little surprise... an Etsy notification on my phone from the Etsy app that said 'you have a new order' (or something like that). I had to read it a few times just to make sure I was seeing it correctly. I've never seen it before...hahaha.

So here's what went down...whenever a potential buyer faves one of my pillows, I like to send them a little thanks. What I do is send them a convo thanking them for favoriting my pillow and I write a little blurb to introduce myself, my shop, and my products. And then I offer them a First-time Buyer Coupon Code for 20% off their entire first purchase. Sometimes I get a response from them saying thanks, or questions about the pillow and such, but oftentimes I don't hear back from anyone. No biggie. So with this buyer, I heard nothing back until after she placed her order, and she replied to say thanks and let me know she bought the pillow. Turns out, this was her first Etsy purchase! cool, huh? My thank you/ coupon email finally worked!

So I celebrated by going to the fabric store for more supplies. I just love a 50% off sale at Joann' s. I played around there for 3 hours and left with 10 New colors of linen for my Color Block collection! Now I really have some work to do!! I'm looking forward to getting all my new designs completed and building up my inventory. This was just the kick in the pants that I needed...I was kinda feeling like I was in a slump because my shop wasn't selling. And of course the whole Father's Day thing.

But now I'm stressing about the wrapping/packaging for my sale. Can anyone share their thoughts on best practices/what customers like? I've never given it enough thought...I was more focused on the designing, crafting and shop maintenance/marketing. Packaging and shipping just sorta slipped my mind. Oops.

Ok, so that's my novel for today. Thanks for letting me vent. I just wanted to share my good news with someone who cares. And to ask for the packaging advice.

Cheers!
Michele

Re: Official Success Celebration Thread!

Hey Michele,
Congrats on your sale! I know the feeling! In response to your question on wrapping - there are so many ways to wrap purchased items. I thought about it for days on end trying to decide just how I wanted to do it. It was beginning to exhaust me! Finally I decided to keep it simple but classic. I wrap my items with white tissue paper and then tie white curling ribbon around the width and the length. Then I curl the ends of the ribbons and tuck a business card and "care instructions" card under the ribbon in the middle of the package. All this is then carefully placed in a bubble padded envelope and sent off to the customer! It's clean, simple and yet very pretty. I have seen other Etsians use their crafty talents to come up with some absolutely amazing packaging ideas. You might want to check the Etsy archives for ideas. Good Luck!

Re: Official Success Celebration Thread!

This past Friday I had my first sale. It was a very cool experience. I told everybody that I could on FB and through texting. The night before the sale had signed up for search ads and renewed all my items. Because I renewed my items, I got my first sale. I put a lot of time and work into getting that first sale. My next goal is my next sale.

Re: Official Success Celebration Thread!

I just broke into double digits this week! I have enjoyed making things my entire life and it is a bit strange to me that people actually want to buy my items. I keep creating things I love and hope others will as well. I tweak each item until I love it, then list it. I am now actively learning how to succeed on Etsy and promoting my store and facebook page:

I am learning more and more and love every minute! I may not be selling much at the moment, but all of the "favorited" items and followers make me feel confident and very happy. Thank you all for help, support, and friendship that you share all around. Have a great one!

Re: Official Success Celebration Thread!

I am very happy! I started my first fundraiser on Sat 6/15. it will run through 6/30, with a sales date of July 20th of the finished items. Organizer has not said, if it is a auction or bazaar for the finished items. In spite of a lady hassling me all day Saturday about a negative feed back she gave me:

We had 39 pattern sales, which is $117 for the teen mission group.
If anybody wants to get more information of what we do check my blog http://patternstriedantrue.org
These pattern sales will give them a great cash flow to advertise their sales event. Since they are local I was able to donate a lot of the materials myself, but I will try to get others and yarn companies to be involved, if this fund raising is something people will be interested in.
I don't care now, if I ever have sales on Etsy. All this work making patterns was worthwhile, if this great turn out continues.
