OK tagging/title experts...

I thought I had a handle on this but I think I need some help.

Lately about half my views come from Etsy searches, which I'm pretty happy about. The problem is the only thing people are clicking on is my bookmarks and wine charms. I'm lucky if one of my jewelry items gets a search view once a day. Can someone take a look and offer suggestions on what I can do to improve this? I went through all my tags & titles awhile back and thought I'd done a good job but lately I'm not getting views on the jewelry items.

I have to go to bed soon so if I don't respond it's not because I'm ignoring you. Well, I am but it's because I'm sleeping. I'll check back tomorrow. Thanks in advance!

Well...the bracelets do not give me a sense of scale from the preview picture..so i don't even want to click on them. If they were pictured on a wrist....then i could immediately see the scale...and might be interested.

The earrings look good in the positions but the preview images should be more zoomed out so i can see the entire earring in the preview

Our buyers ability to find us is soley based on key words and tags. Your photography is beautiful. Your tags are good. I might suggest, you take a peak at what other sellers are using as tags and follow suit...i'm not sure its enough to say, orange bracelet for example, but what do i know...i sell knitted items :-)

Deb, thank you for your nice comments. I appreciate it. Believe it or not, I have gotten hits in the past for something as simple as "orange bracelet." It's just lately I'm not getting search hits on any of my jewelry. I'm wondering what's up with that.

Sam, could you tell me which earrings are cropped in your preview? The only ones I see where I cropped part of the earrings are the three pairs that are hanging. This was done purposely to show more detail on the earrings themselves. I do appreciate your input about the bracelets and will consider showing more model pics.

Does anyone else have any suggestions on how to get my jewelry noticed? I've gotten a lot of compliments from people who have seen and purchased my jewelry in person. I need Etsy buyers to see it too.

Your titles, tags and descriptions look fine to me. I'm having the same trouble with being found. Maybe promoting more will help.

OK...YOU KNOW I'm no expert (lol) but I AM learning ... so here's what I would do. I would try: Beaded Memory Bracelet or Memory Wire Bracelet (because that implies that the sizing is "flexible". Also, it looks like most of your bracelets are glass beads .... but if there are any gemstones, I would name them...like Turquoise Beaded Bracelet. Other than that ... I can't figure out why you're not getting more views. The eternal question!!! :) (Hope this helps?)

I think your shop is cute and your photography is very good. I think your items are properly labeled to get the most out of Etsy's SEO - but you are selling something that has tons of people selling already - there are so many jewelry sellers on Etsy - I don't know how any of you get found except by chance. Your other items are getting clicks because there are fewer sellers of those items. Just my thoughts on it... Good luck!

Judy, I did use those words when I first started out. I wasn't sure if the average buyer searches 'memory wire' so I started changing things up to be more specific as far as colors. I think I only have one bracelet with gemstones. The rest are glass or czech glass beads.

These are the keywords in my shop stats today:

bookmark bead
wine glass charms
sand dollar jewelry (woo hoo!!)
beaded bookmark
bookmark

These are yesterday's:

wine charm wine
pink flamingo bookmarks
metal bookmark
beaded bookmarks
wine charms
pink flamingo
wine glass charm

fun words to put on wine glasses (from "other" search engine)

Not that I don't love that people are finding my bookmarks and wine charms, but it's kind of frustrating that they're not finding my jewelry.

Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions and the nice words about my shop. As soon as I have some time I'm going to start tweaking a few listings at a time to see if it changes anything.

So I'm thinking to myself what would I search for the obvious 'beaded bracelet' comes to me first, but have you tried anything like: bridal jewelry, bridal party gifts, bridesmaid jewelry, bridal bracelet.

Have you tried Google's Adword tool to see his many hits come back on these terms? What other terms people,are using to search? Use those that come back in your tags and titles.

The bigger problem is so many people are selling what you sell (same for me:(). Your photos are phenomenal and I wouldn't change a thing.

Also think about joining the SEO team. They have helped me with my tags and titles as well.

Here is what I got back using beaded bracelet. Below is the list in order of what it means under each term. So for beaded bracelet the competition is high and global searches are at 1300 and local at 590 (based per month).

When using the key words found below you have to be sure to use them exactly, b/c these are the terms that people are searching. I would recommend to use some that don't have such HIGH search return as well so you don't fall too far behind.

There is so much to this it makes my head spin. This is a good tool to help you start. The SEO team will help and will do a review on an item you ask them too.

I have beaded jewelry items on front pages of certain searches and still not getting the views. Quilts are about the only thing showing up, maybe 4 hits on my jewelry a day at most in searches. Why I have stopped listing bracelets, guess they are not a hot item any more?

I use tags from exact phrases in my title and the first line of my description I try to use a lot of the same words. Plus added key words through out the description. I tested this and I showed up on page 8 of beaded jewelry! Again as great as that sounds no one seems to search...

Maybe you will have better luck, you have much nicer items :)

Also make sure that each item description is unique. Check this out:

SewShellz, I try to be careful about duplicating description text. How about titles? I know I have a lot of duplicate words in my titles because I try to use keyword phrases in them. Should I not be doing that? And btw, I have used the Google AdWord tool. I wasn't quite sure what I was doing but it did give me the idea to use 'metal bookmark' for my bookmarks (slaps forehead - why didn't I think of that?). My shop is found with those keywords just about everyday. Now to find the sweet keywords for my jewelry!

As far as marketing to brides, I don't consider my jewelry to be bridal jewelry (and I don't do custom). Should I tag it as bridal even though I personally don't feel it should be categorized that way?

I would use more tags with materials. I notice that a lot of people are very vague when using material tags. Some I came up with for the bracelet you have as your profile pic is
pink glass beads
crystal beads
orange beads
amber glass bead
Crystals
Czech crystals
Czech beads
Glass beads
Silver wire

People use such different words when searching. You have to think about all the ways that person will look for that item.

Judy, I can see where you don't feel your items would appeal to a bride. BUT, as beautiful as your items are, they are perfect for the bridesmaids; especially the pastels.

That being said, it sounds like your views (while discouraging) are headed in the right direction for the number of items you have in your shop. Keep working and you'll get there!

I removed the Mother's Day references in my bookmark section on Sunday and added graduation and teacher gifts to my titles and descriptions. I haven't had time to do the rest of the sections yet but it's on the agenda for the near future.'Thanks for the reminder. ;-)

Do you think its worth focusing more.on bookmarks and.waine charms if.this is what is bringing people to your shop? You obviously have a much better chance in these areas than the way over saturated jewelry. Maybe come up with even more of these designs, I bet you could get in the first page of a search for metal bookmarks or beaded wine charms. I just think you could be really successful in these areas. And if these bring people to your shop then they will see your jewelry. You might have already done this but in each description make sure you say ' click on this link to view my other items' (something aling those lines) with a link, this seems to keep people searching my shop for longer.

HI Judy, I'm not sure about titles, but I would assume so. Just change the wording around a little to use more of those key words. The one that works brings the jewelry shopper to see your shop.

As for the bridal part. I can totally see a bridal party wearing these....especially with the bright spring/summer colors the bridal parties are wearing. It's hard when you don't see it. That's why it's so important to get this insight from the community. If I were getting married I would love to see these wrap beaded bracelets on my bridesmaids. And you have sets....matchig earrings....I cannot remember if you market any sets, but I would list a couple. It would be a great gift for the bride to give to her bridesmaids. I would try tagging and title a few of the bridal terms and see if it comes back in any searches. You can always change it.

I did try that for awhile. I actually have about as many bookmarks as I do bracelets. I've also been on the first page of search with my bookmarks. I haven't checked lately but the last time I did I had bookmarks on each of the first 4 or 5 pages. :) I have supplies to make lots more wine charms. I get search views for them everyday but so far no sales. I'm not sure what the buyer wants or why I haven't sold any yet.

Katie, thanks for giving my shop so much love today. Wow! I came home from work to find 87 listing favorites (more favorites than views!). When I went through my activity feed I saw that most of them were from you. That's an all-time record for my shop. :)
