ODD, how can something be "hearted" that has 0 views?

I just listed a few things and within the first few minutes it had 2 people favorite it but when I look at the item, it has ZERO views. Both of the people who hearted it have just joined Etsy today.

Then, a few minutes later, another item I just listed was purchased by someone who just joined Etsy today.

To further add to the intrigue, one of the people who hearted the first thing I listed had a rather provocative photo as their avatar. Certainly not like anything "I've" ever seen here on Etsy...

What's going on? Anyone had anything similar happen? I looked at Shop Stats and can't pinpoint the source...

This is interesting. I hope someone has an answer. . . It never happened to me, I just have 'artificial' viewers each day that spike my views, without having been on my site, but I do relate that though to a service I used to increase my shop views (and I learned that have been taken there!).

Anyone for the no views and still 'hearts'

I know that when you are viewing treasuries you can heart things straight from there but not actually view the page.

When you mouse over a photo, a little heart appears in the corner. So they did in fact see your item in the thumbnail photo, they just didn't open it to read the description. Perhaps they were just saving it for later.

So maybe they saw it in the "newly listed" thumbnails...that's the only thing I can figure.

All someone has to do is click the "favorites" button and it shows up without a view

I know it's possible to add in favorites with the little heart icon on the picture. But if someone is really interesting I think he will see details of it...

It arrives once to mee that a wooden box 's done 5 favorites with only 3 views when I post it....
Or maybe stats were not updated?...

I agree with almost all of the above--you can heart an item without viewing it by clicking the heart in the top left corner (it appears when you move your mouse over it), by seeing the item in a forum and clicking "Favorite", or by seeing items that other people have hearted in your cirlce (you can find them in your activity).

No, it is as others have suggested. You can heart an item without viewing it in taste taste, the treasuries, and in regular search. I'm not sure whose brainchild this idea was, but it is not helpful in terms of getting folks in your shop.

There are some people that are hearting everything they see on the frontpage "just listed" part, just to gain attention for their own shop/profile. They hope the people that received the favorites will click their name and view their shop or their weird profile picture for some reason......
It's kind of annoying.

Ilse, you are right because those two people who hearted my listing had different pictures last night and different cities of origin. Today they are not from "Chicago", they are from "Boston" and I forget where else.! And...the provocative picture was replaced by a different "normal" one.

When I told my husband about it, he said "people change their avatars all the time" and then I said " well, she changed her ethnicity too cuz yesterday she was black!". <grin> It's not like they're trying to get me to view their shop...they're not selling anything...
