Nov. 5: Online Lab - Crash Course in Holiday Marketing

On Wednesday November 5th at 3pm (EST) we'll be hosting a live crash course in Holiday Marketing in the Online Labs. Ask your questions here about holiday marketing and we'll take the time to answer as many as possible during our 30 minute session.

My shop has been open since 2009. I've had great holiday seasons and some have been duds. Right now my shop has been so quiet I sure hope this season is a good one for me.

This will be my 7th holiday season on Etsy. My best tip is to be gentle, subtle, and creative-- whatever your holiday marketing strategy is. 'Tis better to woo than to pester. Shoppers are relentlessly bombarded with (often crass) holiday commercialism at every turn from about Labor Day on, and I don't want to add to the cacophony. So I gently slip in coupon codes on my FB page, throw in extras like gift tags and gift boxes with each order to ensure return customers, and splurge on a few colorful ads in relevant and popular blogs. I look forward to your "crash course" and hope to learn some new strategies!

I offer free giftwrap service to newsletter subscribers in November. I share this with my social media channels. The goal is to pump up my newsletter subscription rate and to we my newsletter subscribers and to get people to order a little early to take advantage of the deal.

Hard to believe it's here! Oh my, where has this year gone!! 2009 was my first holiday season with Etsy, it's my favorite time of the year! So much excitement and so wonderful to be a part of someone's "gift giving".

One thing I know that has helped me is incorporating "seasonal" into my photos (red, green, ornaments, santa, etc.). And using tags that will help be found easily for treasury curators and maybe even an Etsy feature.

I look forward to the lab and picking up any helpful tips.

I've purchased from Etsy for years, but this is my second Christmas season as a seller. I learn SO much from other creative sellers and the staff as well.

My question this year is what is the best way to offer a gift wrap option in my shop? I'd love to offer free gift wrapping for a limited time and then after that charge a small fee if customers choose to have their purchase gift wrapped. However, I don't know the best way to add this to my shop. Would listing variations be the best way to go about this?

This Crash course fills me with anticipation, especially since I am husseling & bustling to list many new themed items in time for this holiday. To which I was concerned I was behind. From posted comments here already, sounds like I may be on track and to have help with a crash course is so welcomed! My shop had been a "hobby" but now due to job loss, transitioning to a business I truly am grateful for all advice. Will there be any input about extra marketing tips in regards to using Etsyonsale for extra exposure, as well as social media tips for added exposure for marketing "add on's"? I already plan on adding free gift boxes and hoping for tips like full gift wrap or attractive pkging.. Is the team sending emails for the time of the lab? I so want to attend with bells on :-) Thank you Team!
