So I had posted about harsh words from a relative. However, with each sale, accomplishment and comment of support, the sting fades. The original thread is here: http://www.etsy.com/teams/5002/etsy-success/discuss/11590689/page/5/

Now the sting is totally gone!

I just found it- Babble.com's Top 50 Etsy Baby Shops of 2013- and I'm in it! I don't know what it means to be ranked in the "Top Seller" category, but I'm #7!?! Woot woot! Off to celebrate.

Thank you to the Etsy Success team for all of your help and support. I'm so thankful and proud to be part of such a great community filled with so many wonderful, talented people. It makes "coming to work" fun and exciting.

Gena- they link to an item in my shop that's getting hits from their page! I kind of wish they had used the photo of the linked item. I'm also not sure that "top seller" really means much of anything in particular but heck! I'll take it!

Just for the record, my husband is very supportive of my shop. Without that support, there is no way I would be able to devote as much time to it. With two young children at home, someone needs to watch them while I see and manage the shop! I'm very thankful that he understands handmade and the global marketplace. I'm also very appreciative of his geekyness. He has done all of my graphic design for me. He's not a graphic designer. He just loves learning and is very artistic. I'm very lucky.

Congrats Nicole!! There is skepticism from some of my family members too. My own sister rolls her eyes at times when I talk about my shop. Some just don't understand our quest for success and how we work our guts out to be successful on Etsy.

That's really awesome- I'm so happy for you. Ignore that whole thing with family members moaning about prices- I know myself it hits hard when someone so close gives negative feedback on your creations.
I had an uncle slate me to my face about the wedding invitations I'd sent out. I got really upset (in the middle of a starbucks, too) because he was telling me how I'd left loads of things out of it and that I needed to sort them out before I sent any more out. It turned out the things I'd 'missed out' where things that he'd not bothered to read :B

I had the kind of words you received from your family member, from a friend of mine i think her exact words were "you think people will buy this and at those prices?" They are just jealous as they aren't creative enough to do the same thing for themselves. Your shop is "LUSH" I love it! and good for you girl, you show them just how wrong they were :o)

Ps, your shop is not expensive for handmade clothes, i'd pay your prices and do for my sons special pieces he has for special occasions.
