Not Leaving Feedback

We had our first sales during the rush in Nov and Dec. I have verified that all items that were shipped in the US have arrived via delivery confirmation. We have not received feedback on any of the items yet. Is that unusual?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Not Leaving Feedback

A lot of people don't leave feedback, particularly those who are new to Etsy. I send thank you cards with my packages that have a little reminder about feedback, but I still only get about 50% of buyers leave feedback unless they are also sellers.

Re: Not Leaving Feedback

As Amie mentioned, it seems like 50% feedback is average. Personally, I don't think buyers think about leaving feedback as much if they aren't also sellers. When I buy on Etsy, I love leaving feedback. When I buy from Amazon, I never do! When I've asked buyers for feedback, some have convoed or emailed me. I think a lot of buyers aren't even aware of it, which seems odd since it pops up right when you log in!

Re: Not Leaving Feedback

I was just getting worried that they weren't happy with the item.

Thanks for your responses.

Re: Not Leaving Feedback

I recently purchased an item via Etsy that had a thank you card like Amie's, a very courteous, super nice note telling people to please leave feedback or to contact the seller if there were any issues before leaving negative feedback... I thought it was very cool and plan to include that sort of note in future sells

Personally, I always leave feedback when I buy once I receive the item, and when I sell, once I ship

Re: Not Leaving Feedback

I wouldn't worry about them being unhappy. If they weren't happy with their purchase, they'd let you know. I've not had too many poor transactions as a buyer, but I have let sellers know when something wasn't packaged very well or the description was misleading. I think it's one of those, no news is good news types of things.

Re: Not Leaving Feedback

Meghan,
No news is good news when it comes to feedback. Most customer's don't bother, and 50% is the average rate. We've had the occasional customer wait 3 months to leave feedback (and most don't bother). But I can assure you that if the customer wasn't happy with your product they would MAKE time to contact you and complain.

So don't fret. Feedback will come when it comes.

Re: Not Leaving Feedback

Meghan,
I posted the same question a few months ago, after I had sold a few things and gotten no feedback. I have come to agree with the no news is good news idea...and SerenityInChains is right, if the customer was upset they would certainly let you know about it.

Cute shop by the way!

Re: Not Leaving Feedback

I don't think it's unusual...lots of people either forget to leave feedback or just don't really think about doing it. But I suppose all is good if you didn't hear back anything negative! :)

Re: Not Leaving Feedback

I agree with Amee,
I don't always get feedback either. I like to have feedback, but people usually are quicker to say something if they don't like item than if they do. If they aren't happy they will usually let you know in some way, so if they haven't said anything chances are they are happy with the product and sometimes they either don't understand how to leave feedback, how it is important, or I think they just forget.

Re: Not Leaving Feedback

I've only gotten feedback on about 30% of sales on my other shop. (This shop is so new, it's not surprising there's nothing yet).
I think a lot of people don't understand the feedback system as I've gotten at least 3 or 4 emails/Etsy convos saying thanks and that they loved the item or that the gift receiver loved the item, but then they never leave feedback. I don't want to seem annoying so I just thank them for taking the time to email/convo me and don't mention the feedback on the site.

Re: Not Leaving Feedback

The first time I bought something it took me forever to figure out how to leave feedback! For a 30 year old I'm not very computer savy (even though my minor was internet management!) I wound up sending a conversation to the buyer thanking her before I finally found how to leave feedback. Personally, I think they need to make the feedback option much more of a focal for buyers- if you have to look for it few people are going to bother!
