New Mini Moo Cards

I'm super excited. I just got my first batch of Mini Moo cards from moo.com. I think they look pretty great, but some of the images are a little blurry on some of the cards, but not all of them. I got this batch for free, so I'm not too terribly upset, but I was wondering if anyone else had a similar problem, and if so do you think it was the images you chose, or was something off with the printing?

I ask, because the cards with crisp, clear images are WONDERFUL. I want to order more. Seriously, they're beautiful. I think the images I chose may have been the wrong size, but I'm curious what others' experience has been. Any thoughts would be welcome!

Re: New Mini Moo Cards

I've never had an issue with moo cards. Maybe it was the size of the picture you uploaded?

I haven't had any trouble either. How did the proof look when you reviewed it? I love my mini moos! Enjoy your new cards!

I haven't had issues with them, but I haen't uploaded my images to them. They are so high quality, and I love the minis because you can slip them so easily into your orders!

Re: New Mini Moo Cards

@Allison Brown--The proofs looked great on the screen, and for the most part, my cards look great too. There's just one or two that look a teeny bit blurry. But even blurry I still think they're awesome.

@Ashley--That's the biggest reason I ordered them, because they're so little and cute and will fit perfectly in my packages.

I think next time I do it, I'll try importing my images directly from Etsy. I didn't even know that was an option the first time round. Anybody tried that?

Re: New Mini Moo Cards

did not know about import from Etsy - very cool! will have to try that out next time. I love mine! I use a hole punch and, with a ribbon, I use them as a tag on all of my packaged items I send out!

Re: New Mini Moo Cards

@Valeria--When you're designing your cards or stickers or what have you over on Moo.com, there's an option to use your own photos. When you select that, it gives you the choice to upload images from your computer or import them from other places on the web, like from Etsy. I think there are other options too, like Facebook, Flickr and Picasa.

By doing this, your cards are printed with images of items in your shop, which I think is a pretty neat way to promote things. I guess you can choose what pictures you want to use and everything.

Re: New Mini Moo Cards

Thank you Heather! But, if images are in low res. This is not a problem for printing?

Re: New Mini Moo Cards

I think Moo.com will tell you if your image has too low of a resolution. If you use the images you have in your shop, I think you'd be fine as they don't look blocky or pixellated, but if you're not sure, check out the help section on Moo's site by going to http://us.moo.com/help/faq/design-overview.html

Moo.com also provides an online "proof" so you can see what you're images will look like before you buy.

Re: New Mini Moo Cards

funny you're posting this. i just got mine out of the mailbox. i imported mine from etsy. i also checked over all the proofs several times.

i was thinking they looked a little blurry. it is such a slight blur it's barely noticeable. i really had to look closely. mine were also free, just paid shipping. even with the slight blur i would be likely to purchase them again.

Re: New Mini Moo Cards

Could you (or would you even want to), use a hole punch in the minis and tie them on your package? I usually use twine or ribbon with tissue paper to wrap up fabric items and I'm wondering if I could use the minis as tags/business cards all in one... it would save me time and money!

Re: New Mini Moo Cards

nicole,
yes! definitely. those were my exact intentions, and they will be used for that. they are thick, but no too thick for a regular hole punch. super cute!

Re: New Mini Moo Cards

This is a great thread!

Did not know about the Etsy lInk for Moo but I love their mini cards.

They make great tags for my handmade items. I punch a hole add a bit of ribbon and clip on with a mini clothespin.

Re: New Mini Moo Cards

I could be wrong and often am...
When I loaded my images to Etsy I reduced the file size to 72 dpi since that is what monitor and web pix use and they load faster. To upload these to moo they would turn out yucky.

The image needs to be good to start with at least 300 dpi for printing. Could that be the trouble with your images not being so good?

Re: New Mini Moo Cards

Karyn-

I just received some stickers from moo as well, using the same images, and there's nothing wrong with the images. Nothing was really all that off with my mini cards either--only about a dozen of the 100 seemed just a teeny bit blurry.

I didn't know that bit about reducing the file size to 72 dpi making images online load faster. That's a pretty awesome tip :)

Re: New Mini Moo Cards

I got some done with the special offer, and was really pleased with them. I used 4 different images, and one is very slightly blurry but not enough to worry about, and I'm pretty sure it was the quality of the image I uploaded. I used the import from etsy tool, and it was really easy!

Re: New Mini Moo Cards

Glad to hear the Etsy import works well for everyone. Isn't that funny just a few were off.

I don't know all that much about digital printing it was new and far different than what it is today when I left the printing industry. But back then they used the exact same image for each print so in theory all should be exactly the same. vs the days of a metal plate and the paper could smudge or the plates not printing in the exact right spot on the page..... interesting.

Also back then full color would cost two arms and one leg to print just 100 cards. So for the cost I could live with a few not being perfect. $20 for full color one side and black on the other- double sided cards is awsome.

Our first order is here and I had to stay up late to start making them part of our thank you package we are going to send out with our orders.

Just need our Moo stickers... that will be here any day now.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/lizzylanefarm/sets/72157629966777032/ you can have a look at them if you want. I like them.
