Need some advice on low viewing, but spending a lot to advertise?????

Hi Everyone,

I have a question regarding how it's possible to get 1000's of views on an item. I have a $100 a month budget for advertising and I spread this through show cases and searching ads. I've been open since November 2011, and have had 81 sales. My price point is low, so spending $100 a month to get about 10 sales a month is really not a profit at all. I have my full shop on FaceBook, I pin on Etsy, get in circles, do ttreasuries, but yet, I get just a handful of views per item. I am building up my stock to get 100 items, I am at 70 now. My feedback is always great. Sooooooooo what am I missing here. Any suggestions on lay outs for my pictures? Wording? Key words. I know I am in a very competive market.

Awesome questions Kathy! I did a quick check on baby items and it seems like a lot of the items with high views have really clear, eyecatching photos. I really like your items and I think they'd really benefit if you were able to have them modelled. Do you know any photographers who could take some photos for you with a baby for the items that can be modelled and maybe on a white background for those that can't? A few of my friends on etsy have asked around at Universities/Colleges for photography students to see if they'd like to do a shoot to add to their portfolio! Just a thought!

I agree and I have though a lot about the fact I need a model!!! I live in an area with tons of moms and babies, but I am new here and don't know anyone. We are having a community yard sale, so I am going to keep my eye open for moms and babies and ask for volunteers!!! Thanks for your advice.

Hi Kathy,

I am in the same boat as you with not having a model. I am working on it (have some pregnant friends, but the kiddos take a while to get made!)

The prints that you use are fairly busy, because of that I think I would try a quieter (maybe white) background. I think it will give it a cleaner look. Your stuff is nice though and with the amount of sales you are having I would say you should be on the right track
