I would have a more close up shot of your earrings ect as the main picture, to show the design you did - and perhaps in the same shot have a picture of the backs too, so one earring is facing the camera and one is on its side, to show they are studs :) just a thought! x

Amy, your work is so PRETTY! Do you use a photo box to brighten your photos and soften shadows? Maybe tweak the photoshop setting to increase contrast on your totes. Good luck!

Re: Im struggling with .....

I too struggle with backgrounds because I have a range of things in my shop. It isn't just one thing and I think that makes it more challenging.

I noticed your avatar and banner have a watercolor effect. Maybe take some watercolor paper and create a background that would best compliment at least your smaller items. I think it would be fun idea for your shop. Maybe there's watercolor design scrapbook paper that would save you the trouble of making it yourself. That's what I use for some of my backgrounds and I don't have a photo box either. I just take photos by a bright window.

Re: Im struggling with .....

Amy, if you don't use a light box yet, try using only natural light and avoid the flash. Northern late morning or early afternoon seem best. You don't want it too harsh.

Even after doing this, you'll want to adjust them in Photoshop, or Gimp, or whatever program you use to make them brighter and remove any blue or yellow casts.

I don't think the ones in which the background looks tilted looks so good. Feels like they should be straight.

Also, what about trying props? I'm going to add some to my photos eventually too. Maybe some nice wood branch pieces painted white? That way you're earrings will still stand out, but there will be more interest and composition to the photo.

Everything looks pretty good, but I can see where you can make them even better.

Love your work and congratulations on the 3 sales you've already had for being such a new shop.

Re: Im struggling with .....

I'm no expert but was told to use white - however I like the watercolor paper idea since your things are white or light and better close-ups - I have a 10z zoom digital and take the photos far away - do use a flash due to poor lighting - but them us my photo editing to zoom in and change exposure if needed - seems to work. Also always use some prop with my photos. Still could do better -
