Need a little help...

Hi! Please check out my store and let me know if you think it's okay. I'm so excited and I did slash some of my prices, which brings me to a couple of questions...
1) I see on some sites that when they are having a sale, there is a red thin announcement box that tells ppl what the original pr ice was. HOW DO YOU DO THAT?!

2) Some people have drop down boxes for choices. Let's say I want to list five Christmas earrings and I want them to be able to choose 1 of the 5 or a set of five, etc. HOW DO I DO THAT?

3) I have some vintage jewelry I also want to sell. I don't know what choices to make when I'm adding an item that I did not make. How would I do that?!
I have more questions, but that's a good start. Thanks!
Holly ;)

Hi Holly,

Your shop looks like it's off to a good start, you even have a few sales! I would recommend working on your photo lighting, maybe some natural light would be best. I see a little glare from a flash or not enough light on other photos. Also create your about page to tell your customers a little more about you. I looked at your tags as well, you might want to consider adding the colors of the items in there as well.

The red line slashing through is using an outside system called Etsy On Sale. I use it for my major holidays, it really helps because I have over 300 items and that would take so long to edit each individually. If you want to check it out, here is a referral link that would get you some extra credits to use.

The drop boxes for choices are called variations and can be found when you add or edit your listings. You can change the color or quantity there however you would like.

Lastly, vintage jewelry would fall under the category of "vintage" which makes it alright to sell even though you didn't make it. Etsy is for handmade, supplies, and vintage.

Hope all that helps, good luck!

Hi Holly,
I'm new too, but agree with Stephanie that your site looks good. The photos that stand out to me are those of the bracelets with the hand in a jeans pocket.
Also, for the drop boxes, you can add two categories of variations. If you want one to be different pairs of earrings and options for multiple pairs, do that first as you can set prices only for the first set of variations.
All the best,
Beth

I agree with Beth, this one really stands out! The colors pop vibrantly, it's an action shot and so much easier to imagine wearing the bracelet for potential customers, and even the photos with the bracelet on wood look great!

Re: Need a little help...

HI Deb, let me guess: You play promotional games on the teams to get your views and favorites, right? Those people are not looking to buy, they're just plain games.

Your SEO is terrible. If you want to get views and favorites from people who are actually shopping for your items, you have to do it right. Your best bet to learn it quickly is the Relevancy & SEO team here on Etsy.

Also, you need to lighten your photos. I can't really see any details on your frames. I would also suggest that you actually find photos on the Internet like the ones you say would look good in your frames, then print them out and put them in the frames for one of your photos, to show shoppers how awesome it will look with their own similar photos.
