Today I received a convo from a would-be customer asking me why I charge a $47.00 shipping charge on $65.00 worth of tea towels? She said it seemed outrageous to pay that much shipping for 11 tea towels. Well, I had to agree and told her I would check it out and get back to her shortly. What happened is...About a month ago, I had changed all my listings to Etsy Calculated Shipping. I had my tea towels set to ship at $3.95 for the first one and had it set to 0.00 for additional items. So, her shipping should have been $3.95 total for 11 towels. Which really, I would be paying for the majority of shipping on that large of an order since they are heavy. Anyway, I don't know what went wrong, but this I do know - I have had a LOT of potential customers looking at my tea towels in the last month, but NO sales. No idea why until now. Rarely does anyone ever buy just one towel, so I believe there is/was some kind of glitch in the calculated shipping for additional items. And by the way, I lost the sale. My customer had 11 tea towels in her cart and became impatient when I had to take a few minutes to look into it. Hopefully she will return another day. I sent her a convo thanking her for bringing this to my attention and apologizing for the mix-up. Do you think it would be considered spam if I sent her a convo offering free shipping or a discount for her trouble?
