My customer was prompted to buy my item at check out through Facebook?

I had a buyer this morning who refused to purchase because he got prompted to sign in through Facebook at check out. He wrote to me very disgruntled because he does not want his purchase info on Facebook.
As of now I have lost the sale! Has anyone heard of this?
I honestly don't like Facebook so much so I can understand his feelings

I'm pretty sure this person just doesn't know how to use the internet... as Etsy definitely doesn't prompt you to login with facebook :\

I know he even had his assistant do it and she said the sane thing
When they go to pay it prompts Facebook sign in so other people see what u bought!

Even if there is some sort of a new facebook prompt it wouldn't be mandatory so I still maintain these people are internet illiterate :P

Ah I figured it out. You can create an Etsy account using your Facebook information rather than entering all new information. I bet they did this, so then of course you would have to log into Facebook if you want to check out because it's the same log in info.

I believe if they go to "Your Account" then "Settings" they could unconnect it from Facebook, or just uncheck the box that says "Share your Favorites on Facebook"

Yep, I logged out of my account and went to the page to register a new one and logging in on facebook was totes and option. I had no idea, that's kinda spiffy though as most sites allow to just log in via Facebook.

I really don't like facebook so I have tried too.

If you sing out and try to buy it prompts you to register. You have the logo/button to register using facebook information OR to enter your details.

Now this is a very thin line like this

And maybe they cannot see that it is an option to enter your details in the fields below which will not link to facebook.

You know, I would press pause on calling any CUSTOMER illiterate. That is rude and uncalled for especially since this customer is trying so hard to buy your product.

That being said, just walk him through the login/purchase step by step and include screenshots if necessary. If it were me I'd just make a video lol.

You never know whether this hard work may land you a repeat sale or not.

We are all buyers in life and I'm sure that everyone here has at one point misunderstood something that may seem simple looking back.

I would explain that you may have figured it out and just walk the buyer through the process.
