Motorola Droid Turbo 2?

Does anyone own a Motorola Turbo 2 smartphone? I'm interested to hear if you're satisfied with the camera & other functions related to your Etsy shop as this is the phone I'm about to order.
Thank you for your review.

Motorola Droid Turbo 2
The main reason I'm asking here is that EVERY single smart phone out there has both good and bad reviews, so am hoping to get some feedback / reviews from users who have the same smart phone needs as me and are managing their shop with the Sell on Etsy app and taking pics with their phone for their Etsy shop.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Motorola Droid Turbo 2?

I am not sure about that phone but I use a Samsung for most of my photos. I love it. Both my boys have it too and love the camera feature, as well as everything else.

Re: Motorola Droid Turbo 2?

My better half has a iPhone which is supposed to be the gold standard for a camera on the phone. I have a Motorola Droid Ultra that blows her iPhone away in terms of picture quality but it's still not good enough to take product photos. There's a bunch of reasons why cells phone aren't the best tool for this job.
1) Short focal length means I have to get very close for any kind of close up - so close that sometimes I'd be blocking the item's light.
2) digital zoom doesn't help - it's a kludge - it more or less just crops. You can do that yourself in photoshop/lightroom/gimp/etc
3) tiny sensor makes for noisy images, especially when the light is on the low side and things get worse if you do multiple edits.
4) My phone has a "10 MP" camera. The file size agree but the actual resolution - real information it provides - is more on par with a 3 or 4 MP camera. And I be better off if it WAS only a 3 MP as the images would have less noise. Big file size is not the same as having real hi-rez
5) cell phone flashes sucks and sorry etsy gurus sometime to shot needs some help

You can buy a nice point and shoot for a whole lot less money than a good cell phone and you can even get an entry level DSLR for less. My phone had MSRP of about $650 (though I did get it for free)

There are a couple of items in my shop that I did shoot with my cell photo because I was lazy or didn't have the DSLR at work. You can spot them pretty easily.

If you have nothing then, well it's better than nothing. But it's my last choice.

Thanks Mary and Richard for your advice. I'm holding off on the phone until I can do more research on some other models.
I appreciate your help.

Re: Motorola Droid Turbo 2?

Hello Jewel, I have an idol 3 and works pretty wood with the Etsy apps, no idea about Motorola, but I agree with Richard, there is nothing like a regular camera, I use Nikon Coolpix L120 (is not the newest model) it's a semiprofessional camera, (not a DSLR) that's why it's not expensive but the quality of the photos are pretty good, compared to any smartphone, so I suggest to invest in a good camera (a DSLR is even better and I think Nikon is a good brand) and then edit your photos with photoshop instead to buy a smartphone to use it as a camera

Re: Motorola Droid Turbo 2?

Thanks Paty, but I desperately need a new phone. Mine is 5 years old with a cracked screen & taped up to hold it together plus I'm paying too much for an old phone. My storage is full so my phone malfunctions & I do have the cloud. Anyway, I can't afford a new phone AND a camera...so now am looking at the NOTE 5. Does anyone have that phone to offer any feedback?
Thanks. <3 Jewel

Re: Motorola Droid Turbo 2?

I have a Galaxy Note 3 that I have been using for 3 years now, and it is what I have used exclusively for my product pictures up until I got a camera for Christmas this year. I am still trying to learn how to get really good pictures with the camera, but when I'm in a hurry, I fall back to my phone. I highly recommend the Samsung note phones.

Re: Motorola Droid Turbo 2?

I don't have any info. about Samsung but can share that mine is iPhone 6 plus. I used to use Nikon DSLR but it's fairly old that I think the flash doesn't work very well. I felt that iPhone depicts lights better than my camera when I shoot indoor, especially in winter. My recent listings were all shoot with my iPhone.

Re: Motorola Droid Turbo 2?

Thank you Melinda & Fishcouple for sharing your experiences with your phones. I'm still wavering back and forth...maybe even considering the iphone now since the note 5 costs the same.
