More than 1 Etsy Shop

Can you have more than 1 shop?
I make many different things......baby items, lamps, wreaths, ornaments, fretwork, etc...
so the theme of my current shop is a bit confusing.
I thought maybe I could have 2 separate shops, but I'm not sure if that is allowed.

Thoughts, suggestions, help.......

Thanks,
Granna

Re: More than 1 Etsy Shop

Hi Cari,

Yes you can open another shop.
I like your shop & your profile.
God is good.

Sometimes I think of opening another shop
I have a mixture of different items in my shop also.

Lots of blessings for your shop.

Re: More than 1 Etsy Shop

You want to realize that two shops is two times the amount of work, three shops is three times the amount of work, etc.

Here is Etsy's help info on multiple shops:

Re: More than 1 Etsy Shop

I've had three shops - currently at two. Just be prepared for the extra work. It's not terrible, once you find your rhythm. The only reason I closed down my purse shop is I haven't sold much in the last two years, and it was becoming more of a burden than it was fun. It's not fun to work and promote your head off for no results at all.

Re: More than 1 Etsy Shop

Hi everyone!
I`m also new at Etsy. And I also interested about this issue. So if I want to have more than 1 shop, I should have for each shop different accaunt?
And another question: can I use the same money cards and numbers for receipt of payment?
Thanks for answers.

Re: More than 1 Etsy Shop

If you have a lot of items of a couple of different types, you could consider having 2 shops to differentiate them and to help you with things like branding yourself. Or you could stick to one shop and have very good and clearly defined sections.

If you don't have a lot of items, then 1 shop would make sense. Maybe you should consider to stick with just a handful of categories of items instead of many. In time, you will see what items do well and it would be easier for you to decide.

Re: More than 1 Etsy Shop

Thanks, everyone, for the great info! Some of the items that I would list in the second shop aren't going to expire until March, so I have a while to think about which way to go. I'm thinking if I streamline the photos/backgrounds and clarify the sections I may not have to open a second shop.

Blessings,
Granna

Re: More than 1 Etsy Shop

I too have different items and I thought about opening a second shop but it seems to work just fine for me. I think if you had different items like gourmet dog treats and jewelry that would be a good reason to open two shops. If the items can like you said have clear distinction then I think your fine. Best wishes :-)

Re: More than 1 Etsy Shop

I would stick to one shop that way people who were not necessarily looking for can browse your other stuff!

Re: More than 1 Etsy Shop

I have two shops. I wanted to keep my branding clear and concise. My cozykidsdesigns shop is very specifically for children's items and photo props. My other shop, heirofwhimsyboutique, is for anything and everything else I want to put on Etsy.

Thanks!

Re: More than 1 Etsy Shop

Some products just don't mix well in one shop.
You don't want to confuse customers on what it is they might be buying.
An extreme (silly) example: play food and real food.

On the other hand, some sellers open multiple shops while their products would go together in one shop without a problem (and thus attract way more potential customers!).

When you combine different kinds of products in one shop you want to:
- Present your products in a clear way, that prevents confusion.
- Make good use of your shop sections.
- Make your shop look cohesive, through your product photography.

Re: More than 1 Etsy Shop

Kathy, do you really think a shop can be 'too big', even when making good use of shop sections?

From many years of reading the public forums and team forums I learned that hardly any customer browses through all shop pages (even if you have only 5 of them). Most customers find your items by searching the web, using Etsy search, or browsing Etsy in another way. And when they are looking for a certain kind of product and found that one listing they like (in your shop) they will usually browse that specific shop section.
