More listings to first page of Search?

I don't understand why some shops seem to have all of their listings on the first page of search. How can I get more traffic to my site using better titles and tags?

Well, yes. Exactly. Better titles that cover what the product is in a few words, descriptions that discuss the item, and tags that cover everything from what it is, to what color it is.

Inventory. I see you only have a few items in your shop. More items, more results. 50 is better, 100 will get you noticed. Use the down time to create and build your inventory.

The problem with adding more items is that the exact same item keeps selling. Everyone seems to have lost their minds over chevron these days. I sell mostly the chevron and custom listings and rarely anything else. I don't want to over extend myself with items that can't seem to compete with chevron. I am currently working to make a ton more chevron listings in every color of the rainbow. They can't be popular forever though right?

Have you thought about aiming for medical offices, these would be great to keep the waiting room tidy. Just another tag to bring a different clientele.

There is a reason why certain shops might appear very prominently in the first few pages of a search. Titles and tags alone are not the reason, far from it in fact.

As for “How can I get more traffic to my site using better titles and tags”, yes you need to have good titles and tags. I think it helps if the title keywords are 100% matched by tags. More important is to use the right keywords to begin with for your item which you can determine through research using tools like adwords.

Having more items will help too but only to a point if you are up against a lot of competition.

I have actually. I used office in several tags but will try some other ones like waiting room, doctors office, medical office.

As far as copying the title into the tags, do I write them as phrases. If so, how long of a phrase is ok?

Hi I love your things! I think you should list the dowels included. Instead of saying "contact me" or whatever you said exactly. If you include it all as a package I bet you would sell way more! There are people with money on etsy and I bet they would rather get a set then go to the hardware store to get the dowels for $2...

Well, make 80 of what sells ;) Sometimes we have to do that, I have one certain ring (currently out of stock in fact) that I know I can make an entire sheet of (15 to a sheet) and I know I'll sell out of them before they even reach Etsy, so I try to make sure I have enough of that ring around (it never works). You might have to do the same thing.

The dowels are 4ft long and I thought that most people would rather pick them up themselvels than incur the additional shipping cost. I don't even know how I would send them.

You all are so helpful and have great suggestions. I am thinking I could make duplicate listings offering the brackets to increase my listings.
