I tend to go through phases with reading. I love reading poetry and memoirs, but I’m currently in a New Yorker phase. It provides me with a little news, some entertainment, and more reading material than I can digest in a week. Even though I feel guilty when the next issue arrives and I haven’t finished the last, I’m always really excited when I see it in my mailbox.

Just this morning, I subscribed to the weekend edition of The New York Times. And with both of those subscriptions going, it looks like I’m entering the “sorry, can’t hang out, I’m reading” phase.

What are you reading?

Re: Monday Matters: What are you reading at the moment?

Richard Paul Evans, The Walk Series. Sunday I'll get together with girlfriends to discuss the 5th book, titled, Walking on Water. Imagine what could happen during a walk from Seattle to Key West, Florida! Never imagined I'd ever join a book club, but I love it and the encouragement it provides to read something every month.

Re: Monday Matters: What are you reading at the moment?

I didn't know there was an Etsy Success Team...but I get the newsletter already. Maybe I joined somehow and didn't realize it.

I read the Team Charter and was very pleased to read it is a business-oriented success team...so that must mean "What Am I Reading That Will Help Me Succeed?"

Right now, as a newbie, I am reading all the blog posts I can, the Seller Handbook links in those posts, the materials from the Holiday Boot Camp, and whatever else I can fit in.

I have some CDs from Brian Tracy that I got a long time ago, and I listen to them for inspiration, and to remind myself to stay on track. I have some of his written materials, but I haven't reread them in awhile.

I read the Bible for spiritual wealth, for keeping the right perspectives, for peace, for encouragement, and for wisdom.

Because I am trying to build my shop better, I am researching a lot of other Etsy shops and looking for the best way to create my policies, my listings, my prices, my strategy, and my products. :-) A big challenge!!!

I am also trying to learn about teams and forums and treasuries and other resources that I might be able to use to help market myself and the Etsy products I like.

It is a huge job, so I do as much as I can each day, and look at Etsy as a long-term goal.

Re: Monday Matters: What are you reading at the moment?

THE DOG STARS by Peter Heller
THE PAINTER by Peter Heller
MY MOTHER WAS NUTS by Penny Marshal
The above were read in the audio format. I would never get all my work done without audio books.
One all time favorite is SEVEN YEARS IN TIBET which I have listened to many times. Once I listened to it with a group of jewelers working in the same room.
It was a special time back in the 1980s.
The Peter Heller works really are the type of book that I want to write in the edges....I probably will read the text eventually. Petter Heller has a very good web site for reading.

Re: Monday Matters: What are you reading at the moment?

Hello-
I love reading the paper - and I like reading from real books. I am actually reading to my 4 & 6 y.o. the Magic Tree House Series (we just started), and we are hooked. That is all I have time to read!
If I pick up a book right now, it is usually a knit/crochet stitch pattern book.
But to stay in touch with the world and keep my artistic empathy awake I have a subscription to Time (it was $2) and some other social mags. That helps me feel like I haven't lost touch.

Re: Monday Matters: What are you reading at the moment?

I tend to read books that will help me with my business or that will help me get out of debt. Right now I'm reading ''Website Branding for Small Businesses.'' I just want to give a big shout out to the public library system for all the great books they have for us.

I'm taking my drivers license... so before I can enjoy a good book, I have to finish reading the road code !

The last book I read was ' 1000 years of annoying the French' by Stephen Clark. It was a given to us by my father-in-law.......Need I mention, I am French ! Ha !

I loved scanning through all the previous posts...and have jotted down several future reading selections.

I'm currently reading FlashBoys (the stock market is a scary scary place - no one knows how things really work!) and the Haunting of Hill House.

Not only have I enjoyed reading this book but, I had the privilege of writing the Forward for the Book! Kahiki Supper Club: A Polynesian Paradise in Columbus (American Palate) by David Meyers www.amazon.com
The joy this has brought to my 86 year old Father has made me giddy and thankful!

Finally read the book "The Help." I watched the movie when it first came out and always meant to read the book, and I can scratch that off my list. Well written book and a great read.

This evening I will begin to read book three of the Century Trilogy, The Edge of Eternity, Ken Follett. I am Italian, usually I read in English but I will read this in Italian, I don't want to lose any word of it and there are so many words in 1280 pages!

Re: Monday Matters: What are you reading at the moment?

I love to read, but lately I only have time just before I go to sleep at night and by then I'm usually so tired I only get in a couple of pages. I just stopped reading The Girl You Left Behind by JoJo Moyes - not anywhere near as good as Me, Before You, I just couldn't get into it. Last night I started The Girls at The Kingfisher Club by Genevieve Valentine. It's a modern take on The Twelve Dancing Princesses as flappers in the roaring twenties.

Aimee, that's great!
I'm reading 'Dust' now, the last book of the series.
Every book is as good as the previous one.

Lauren (page 3), you might love the Silo Saga too. They fit right into your dystopian theme.
