All I had in my "message to buyer" section in the past was a brief "thank you for your purchase." Now I have changed it to this: "Thanks so much for your purchase! If you have any questions, problems, or concerns with your order, please contact me immediately and I will work to remedy it! If you are pleased with your order, please share your experience with others by leaving feedback!"

Does this sound appropriate? Or is it too pushy?

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

This is helpful, mine says
"thank you for supporting Girlpower! I hope to see you again!"

now it sounds a bit... simple?

Wow crochetgirl!
thats... terrible!

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

Mine gives my 100% satisfaction guaranteed policy along with the terms and requirements for refunds. I also state when I will leave positive feedback and that I hope they will do the same. I include a copy of that in each order also.

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

I was so glad to see this question. I've never even HAD anything filled out for my "Message to Buyers". This thread alerted me to the great benefits - I just finished creating my message. Thanks!!!

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

I think yours is good. :) Mine basically says thanks for the order, and states how long I take to send the files.

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

This is mine. Any thoughts??

Thank you so much for your purchase.

I ship items within 24- 48 hrs via Slovenian Priority Mail service. It takes on average between 2-5 working days to arrive (Europe) and between 10-21 days to arrive to overseas locations. Friday orders will be sent out on Monday.

PLEASE remember to leave feedback on each transaction soon after you receive your shipment, positive feedback is very important to sellers for future sales.

I strive for 100% customer satisfaction and if you have any problems with your order, please contact me immediately so that I can fix the situation.

Thank you!

Have a fabulous day!

Warmest wishes,

Kristina

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

I've read most of the comments and appear to be in the minority. My note includes shipping expectations mainly - it's more "thanks - now here's what's next".

I'd probably reword if I were you.

At most I'd say "If you have any questions feel free to contact me", but "questions or problems or concerns" kind of overdoes it for me. Too much focus on potential negatives... would have me thinking perhaps I can almost expect an issue with my order (of course probably no but the words together sound like you're maybe expecting there to be some issue, and trying to mitigate it).

I also never mention feedback, and I have to say I prefer when shops don't either. Let it be organic.

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

Here is what I put in my Message to Buyer, it includes the link to feedback::

Thank you for your payment. Your transaction has been completed and you will be notified when it is shipped along with your tracking number for domestic orders.

Shipping for my in-stock item is 1-3 business days after payment is confirmed. My custom diaper bags will be shipped 4-6 weeks after payment is confirmed and my custom baby gift set will ship in 2-3 weeks after payment.

Feedback is very important to me. I love to hear that you are satisfied with your purchase and that it arrived safely. If you would like to leave feedback on your order, please do so by clicking on the following link: http://www.etsy.com/feedback/awaiting

Thank you so much for visiting my shop and purchasing my items. Enjoy :)

Here's mine:

I appreciate your choosing Laura's Last Ditch!

Your item would love to have a traveling companion on the trip to its new home--it can get a tad lonely inside a cardboard box. I offer a generous combined shipping discount, along with 10% off additional purchases (coupon code USL10), and it's not too late to add to your order.

I'd love to have you join me on Facebook:

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

I've just started including the link to feedback in my message to buyers, because someone actually messaged me asking how to leave feedback (which was very sweet!).

When I tried to locate how to leave feedback, it wasn't all that easy, so I think it makes sense to put it in the note to buyer (in a non pushy way!)

Great idea, mine doesn't include shipping policy. I'd better change it now. Thanks a lot!

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

My message to buyers is:
"Thank you for your purchase! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. Your item(s) will be mailed off in 1-3 business days."

I did have the word "problems" instead of "questions". I changed it because "problem" seemed too negative in my opinion.

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

Marking this to read later! The first few posts had some great suggestions! I wrote my message to buyers when I first opened, and I didn't have any idea what to say.

Summarizing shipping and return policies is a great idea!

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

I would take out the part about leaving feedback. It sounds like you want something from me. o.O

lol But really, buyers who truly love to spread the word will do so.

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

Mine says:

Thanks for your purchase from Acts of Craftiness!

* If you've purchased a cross stitch pattern, I'll email it to you within 24 hours of cleared payment.
* If you've purchased a cross stitch kit or ready-to-ship embroidered art piece, I'll prepare your order for shipment and send it on its way as soon as possible after your payment clears.
* If you've purchased a made-to-order item, please allow time for your item to be created for you before shipment. My lead times are included in the item listing information.

If you have any questions, send me a message. I'm very convo friendly.

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

hey, thanks for reviving this thread! It reminded me that I hadn't changed my "message to buyers" yet. I just now changed it to add my shipping times, as well as took out the part about "concerns or problems." I did leave in the part about contacting me with any questions, as well as requesting feedback.

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

My message to buyers reads as follows:

Thank you for making your purchase from Macushla Craft and for supporting an artist designing and creating individual, quirky, handmade jewelry.

If you would like to follow me on twitter: @MacushlaCraft
OR
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Macushla-Craft/336672376458405
or have any questions about your order, please let me know!

Is this too short? Is there something I'm missing from it?

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

Sarah:

I think its great that your message is longer. However, I would avoid using a double negatives. Problems and concerns is pretty much the same, it's a psychological thing.

Immediately gives a sense of urgency but can also be taken the wrong way, seems as if they don't contact you right away then there will be issues.

**Mine says thank you and notifies the customer that I have received their order. Then I tell them they will be notified once their order is shipped out

Positive, nice short and sweet.

For the followup email when I notify them I then say if they have any questions to please contact me. That way I am not being repetitive.

Hope I helped!

Karina

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

I need to update my message to buyers as well; it's too simple as it stands. But I have different turnaround time for different things so that makes it hard to give a shipping estimate without the message getting convoluted. I don't know. I need to try some ways to phrase it and see what works.
