Message to buyers - appropriate?

All I had in my "message to buyer" section in the past was a brief "thank you for your purchase." Now I have changed it to this: "Thanks so much for your purchase! If you have any questions, problems, or concerns with your order, please contact me immediately and I will work to remedy it! If you are pleased with your order, please share your experience with others by leaving feedback!"

Does this sound appropriate? Or is it too pushy?

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

What are other things people include in their "message to buyer"?

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

I think that's totally fine.

Here's what mine says:

"Thanks so much for your purchase from Bake All The Things! My current turnaround time is 7-10 days before shipping, and treats are shipped within 24 hours of baking to ensure freshness. I ship via USPS Priority Mail which typically takes 2-3 business days, though this cannot be guaranteed.

Enjoy!

P.S. Check out my blog at www.bakeallthethings.com"

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

Gena, I like how you include a summary of your shipping policies, as well. I have that information in my "policies" section, but I don't think many people read that part.

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

Plenty of people don't read this note to buyer either, but I figure it can't hurt to mention wherever possible!

But I think I will add my shipping policies too! Thanks(:

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

Because the 'message to buyers' becomes part of the overall sales contract, I include my shipping policies and my refund policy.

That way there is no reason for a buyer to say that they weren't aware of my policies when they make a purchase, even if they didn't read my policies page before they made their purchase.

Thanks for the post! I think I wrote my 'message to buyers' at the very beginning and never read it again! I think it's time to update it! Thanks!

The only thing I'd suggest is removing the 'problems, or concerns with your order', as it's negatively sugestive, ie it puts thoughts of problems & concerns in to their head. Just having 'questions about your order' is enough.

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

Mine includes a thank you, a link to my policies page and a note about how fair out I am on orders.

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

Dan, good point about the "problems or concerns" part putting that idea in buyers' heads. I think I will change it to just "questions."

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

So this is a great topic, and some very good ideas!

Here is what mine says:
Thank you for your purchase! I know you have many choices and appreciate you choosing Amy Davis Art. I will be shipping your package as quickly as possible. If you need it sent Priority or Express Mail, please convo me and let me know; I will look up pricing and send you a separate invoice for that through PayPal, and once paid I will ship. If this is a gift, I am happy to provide a note with your personalized message on it; again just convo me. I am happy to accommodate you in any way I can.
Thank you and God blessing you & yours,
Amy

It took me awhile to realize how this message worked, as I only had the first sentence when I first started, then realized I needed to add more. The message about the shipping was due to experience, lol! I like the idea of also putting my policies there, too.

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

I don't know. I'd imagine a lot of those things are already mentioned in one way or another in your shop policies and abouts...

My message to buyers invites them to come again and mentions a discount code that they can receive for their next purchase from my shop, simply by leaving feedback and uploading a customer appreciation photo. (Which I love.) Excited to see how many people take me up on that offer!

They may be but how many people actually read shop policies before making a purchase? I did an experiment with my 'message to buyers' to see what would happen.

I said simply "Please let me know how you found my shop and what tempted you to make your purchase from Crochetgal. Those who do so will have their full purchase price refunded through paypal, including the shipping costs.

I had many sales during that period and not one person took me up on the offer. It just goes to show that people don't read a thing.

I think you can caall that proof positive that people don't read policies! Astounding!

Re: Message to buyers - appropriate?

crochetgal - wow! That is too funny!

And I like your idea, too, Shirley Ann, though from crochetgal's experiment it doesn't sound too hopeful. :)

It really is hard to get feedback, and yet it can potentially be very useful!

mine says:
If you have any problems with you new purchase please email me and I will be happy to fix, repair, or replace as necessary.

Maybe I should update, I like the above ideas about shipping and leaving feedback.
