Message to Buyers.....

I decided that when I reached 50 items in my shop, I would put myself forward for a critique. I am two days off that, but I wanted to do all I could to make sure I have not missed anything out. I have just realised that I haven't done a message to buyers. So ....in the hope that I will need it one day.... I need to get this sorted.

What do you use yours for ....is it purely a thankyou, or do you use it for other things?

Some buyers are new to Etsy so I inform them what to expect, such as when the order is shipped they will receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking within so and so days of order received. I used to ask them where they find me but not anymore. It's a great way to show a bit of your shop personality, so I'd avoid sounding too corporatey. Hope that helps.

Are you talking about the 'note from shop' that goes on the order receipt? Or the message to buyer in the shipping notification? Or something else?

Rosa...... thanks, that is a good bit of advice

Terri...... I'm not sure. There is a box on the info and appearance page that I have avoided doing anything with.....I think it is the only blank box I have left, and it is looking at me reproachfully. It is labelled "message to buyers", and underneath it says "We include this message on receipt pages and in the email buyers receive when they purchase from your shop".

I used to send out convos notifying the buyer that I've received their order and that I'll be sending an email out asap when their order has been shipped. Lately I stopped doing that though, and I just include a note in the "message to buyers" box because I didn't want them getting a whole bunch of Etsy emails in their inbox. All I include in the "message to buyer" is "Your order has been received! Thank you so much, and I will send you an email as soon as your item has been shipped."

Thanks.....That is the sort of thing I was thinking. I think I sent an individual message last time (though I was so excited I don't really remember what I did). It makes sense not to clog up inboxes.

I have one message on my receipt page which has my satisfaction guarantee and return instructions. I also include a copy of this in my packages. The other message to buyers is on the shipping notification page and I use that to tell them the date their item is shipping and to thank them for their purchase as well as anything else I might want to say. I change it a little for each purchaser to be more personal. I will go check my info and appearance page to see what that one is.

Thank you for your purchase! I appreciate your business. Your item will be packaged carefully and shipped in 1-2 business days (unless otherwise stated in the listing). Please help me build my business by leaving positive feedback after you've received your package. Thanks, Terri and Judy..... I am going to get on with that first thing in the morning. It seems that it is important to underline a few of the more important things that are in your policies, that customers may otherwise miss?

Thats great advice there Judy.... I've just looked at mine and hadn't touched it since i set up shop last year. Certainly needed updating and is better now :-)
