Many views... no orders??

I'm averaging about 40-50 views a day - but absolutely no orders! I understand it's a brand new shop, but my prices are fair and I believe my presentation is pretty good. Then what might be the issue?

Is it because I've had only 1 sale? (Shop has been active for 3-4 weeks only) Or because I don't have more items?

Any advice/feedback is MUCH appreciated by this newbie!

Thanks!

Jasmine,
Don't be discouraged, it takes time to really get your shop off of the ground. Having a sale in your first month open is actually a good sign. Some shops take months to get their first sale.

Are you promoting in and out or etsy? Have you joined teams? Do you advertise? all of these will help you get sales.

Re: Many views... no orders??

My only advise is that you have no policies, so people don't know what to suspect from you. Get polices and then maybe you will get some orders?

Hope this helps!

Re: Many views... no orders??

That is how it goes on Etsy. Many views are curiosity, others for treasuries, some for favoring and then there are those that may eventually buy. Give it time and be sure to promote every chance you get. Etsy is not going to do that for you.

Thank you all for the encouragement...

Nicole - What exactly do you mean by policies? I thought I was pretty thorough in my item descriptions...

Thanks again!

Re: Many views... no orders??

policies aren't in your item descriptions. Go to your shop info and fill it all out.

Re: Many views... no orders??

Policies should not even be in your item description. You should have a link to your policies in each description that all.

Re: Many views... no orders??

your shop is very cute. add more items as you can. you may want to join a treasury team to help get some exposure too.
in case Nicole doesn't come back to answer you from above.
if you click on your shop policies on the left it is blank. that is where you should put your policies such as returns, shipping time, etc. you can set that up under info & appearance at the top of the page under "your shop".
if you need more help feel free to convo me.

good luck.

Re: Many views... no orders??

I think you will do better when you add more items. Your shop is pretty low on inventory right now so without a lot of selection customers will move on pretty quickly.

Re: Many views... no orders??

Sometimes It take time to get sales. Sometimes even got 300 views per day, but with no sales.

Fill up your shop policies. Click on Your Shop link on top. Find Info&Appearance under Shop Settings, and you will go to your policies tab, and fill it up. This is important for potential buyer.

Below are articles that best describe on how to write an policies that work:

Re: Many views... no orders??

As others have said your biggest problem is going to be a lack of inventory. Less than a page isn't enough for a buyer to browse through should they find you shop.

Your need to work on your titles and tags for SEO/Etsy relevancy in particular and your descriptions have things in that shouldn't be in there e.g. huge amounts of punctuation characters e.g. ------------------------------------ which can be viewed by search engine bots as a kind of spam and there is a risk the listings won't be indexed. It will also most likely affect Shopping listings when you are syndicated.

Have a look at 1 & 2 in this link for example as it will help. http://www.etsy.com/teams/7702/sassy-critiques/discuss/10092412/page/1/

Re: Many views... no orders??

I'm having the same issue. I'm getting more and more views and they are consistently climbing. But the problem is that they aren't translating to sales. Any advice for my shop? Should I lower or raise my prices?

I've been working very hard on streamlining my items and my presentation.I've been running sales and advertising on twitter, Facebook, started a blog and even started sending out a bi-weekly e-letter. I believe all this hard work is why the views are finally coming in. But how do I convert window shoppers into actual shoppers?

Re: Many views... no orders??

Hi,I only opened in feb and I got off to a slow start, but I sold consistently in april, I am up to 19 sales now and I am over the moon about it. As I was told back in feb, it takes time to get established and although I havent sold hundreds of items like some of the shops, I am really happy and grateful for my progress. Keep at it, be an active member of the teams, pin, use facebook play with the tags, but most of all, keep positive

Re: Many views... no orders??

Hi Jasmine

Your photography is gorgeous :-)

From what I can determine from your webpage, you actually have one theme "bubbles and sunshine" with several choices within that theme.

Have you thought about packaging the "bubbles and sunshine" theme by including all the items, from invitations to juice box wrappers for one total price?

This would also minimise the postage costs to your customers.

Then you could add other themes e.g. the black and white theme, pirate theme etc and also package everything for one price.

I would also include party themes for boys.

Take a look at your tags and ensure that they include the personalised aspect of your work, that is a unique point of difference you have (as well as your designs).

Also, I would look at the sections of your shop, you can create your own sections when you edit your copy/text. Divide your items into different sections e.g. personalised invitations, personalised cake toppers etc

Have you tried Etsy search ads? You can set a maximum spend and monitor the views you receive.

I think you are really on trend with your party themes, I'm sure you'll do well. It really does take time to build up a shop.

Re: Many views... no orders??

I think your shop looks stunning and it is only a matter of time, once you've had some more sales and feedback before things pick up for you.

I really agree with the last post- everything in your shop is blue and yellow! I get that it is customisable, but e.g. your items will only be featured in yellow and blue themed treasuries, anyone searching by the colour theme of their wedding is not going to find you unless they have a blue and yellow wedding. If you can show some diversity in styles and colours, I think that will open up a huge market to you.

Titling everything with SUNSHINE PARTY as the first word also means that you are optimising that item for search for that particular phrase rather than a more relevant search term like 'printable wedding invitation' . Move any style descriptions like 'sunshine party' to the end of the title.

Hope that advice helps!

Re: Many views... no orders??

Thank you all so much!

I realize my inventory is very limited - currently appealing only to someone who wants a Sunshine themed party. I'm working on adding more collections - I just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only who thought I had something going on here... :))

I really appreciate you all taking the time and effort to help me out! I'm going to follow all the suggestions on here and keep plugging away...

Re: Many views... no orders??

I think the issue maybe some of your tags and that you only have like 10 items.. The more items you have the better it is to get found. Also I think that maybe switching around your tags and titless may help a bit..

For example...
http://www.etsy.com/listing/98070547/sunshine-party-cupcake-toppers-fully

If I was searching for Cupcake Toppers I may not type "sunshine party" first I would type "cupcake topper". Your making it a narrow search by put those words first. But if I was to just look through the cupcake toppers I would think that your picture would catch my eye even if sunshine wasn't my theme.

If you look up some other posts about tags and titles you may get a better idea of what I mean. Think like a customer that isn't set on something in particular.. try broadening your titles and tags

Re: Many views... no orders??

your shop is lovely. possibly they clicked on your shop to see what else you have via a listing. you don't have many listings. GET MORE LISTINGS! i think your shop is cute and makes me want to know what else you have to offer. with not much to choose from it kinda doesn't spark the creative impulse to say oooo i must have it.

Re: Many views... no orders??

Thank you again guys... I'm working on adding more items... I know, I must stay patient :)

I AM getting a lot of views though, so I'm thinking once I have more items, the sales should follow...
