Mailing to Europe?

I'd like to hear people's experiences both positive and negative. I will soon be sending a significant item to Sweden and hope all will be well. I've mailed a number of things out of USA and know of one that was never received.
Thanks!

Re: Mailing to Europe?

I've only sent a few items to England and a couple to Norway and I have never had a problem with any of them. I've heard back from most of my overseas customers when they receive their items, so I was happy to learn that they received them in a timely manner and in good condition.

Re: Mailing to Europe?

I send items overseas all the time & have never had a problem. Once, an expensive piece was held in UK customs for 6 weeks, though.. But, the buyer eventually received it.. So far, I have shipped beadwork all over Europe, Japan, Australia, Russia, and Israel:) The package to Israel was sent via Priority Mail International, it arrived very quickly and safely!!

Re: Mailing to Europe?

I am always surprised by the way some Americans look at Europe....
Most European postal services are much more efficient and faster than the USPS.

Re: Mailing to Europe?

I am in the UK and I have sent to Sweden and I had no problems at all. Why do you think you will have problems OP?

Re: Mailing to Europe?

I have to agree with BeaG. I have shipped to various countries abroad for work or personal packages...There have been only two times a package got delayed and that was in the USA. The first time I had even paid for a quick and secure service. It must be because the packages have to go through customs so inevitably some will get delayed.

Re: Mailing to Europe?

The only European countries that I know of that have a bit of a repuation for mail getting lost are Italy and Greece.
However, I have shipped to both countries and never had a problem.
All other European countries have a perfect reputation for handling (international) mail.

Re: Mailing to Europe?

I have shipped internationally about a dozen times and all of them were successful. Just know going in that it will take longer than usual. I always ask the buyer to send me a note when the item is received for my own piece of mind.

Re: Mailing to Europe?

Yeah, Italy and Greece I've had troubles with. . .

One got lost in backwoods Australia. . .

Europe (and Asia) has been pretty speedy and reliable with no customs problems either. . .

Re: Mailing to Europe?

I'm in Ireland and posted 2 items to different parts of the USA last week; I warned my customers that the shipping may take up to 3 weeks and I'm really hoping it won't take that long, but at least they are aware of it and prepared if the items don't arrive before Christmas.

Re: Mailing to Europe?

Thank you; as I said, one package never made it to its destination in France but I remain hopeful; I also found that one package a relatively short distance from here to Toronto took at least three weeks.

Re: Mailing to Europe?

We've never had a problem. We do send it priority The longest was to the remote part of East Africa nearly 4 weeks. Haven't had a problem with UK and Northern Ireland, Australia, Canada, Luxenborg, Holland, Phillipines, etc lovely and easy every time.

Always a geography lesson finding where it is going on google earth :) I love it. I love the feeling from our hands to yours in less than 80 days. But I am a closet optimist.

Re: Mailing to Europe?

I think Neverlands is Netherlands with a typo. Holland that's it Holland. But We have no problems there. I would hate to think some gentle teasing could be seen as mocking. No emoticons.....

Re: Mailing to Europe?

I'm orginally from the Netherlands and warning against the Dutch postal services is totally rediculous. They are and have always been in the top 5 of the best postal services in the world.

('Holland' actually only refers to 2 of the 12 Dutch provinces, but is often used as another name for The Netherlands.)
