Low views

I try not to post this kind of thing, but after a number of weeks of record views (not huge, but good for me), my views have really declined. The same items that where prominent in the Etsy search (and even in Browse, which I rarely look at), are really buried now. This seems to have coincided with the new listing page change, but it could be unrelated. I just looked at the dashboard- just noticed this. My views are down 500 the last seven days from the previous seven days, and in that same frame, down $275.

I guess I'm just wondering if I'm alone, or if this is just something that happens from time to time. A bit disconcerting...

I've just had a look at your shop and I have to say I LOVE it! I've favourited it and tweeted it.

I just think views and sales are down for most people at the moment, hopefully things will pick up soon.

Wish I had an answer about why this happens. My views tanked in late spring and nothing I've done seems to keep them up. They spike sometimes but don't stay up. And views overnight are better than daytime, so maybe overseas people are looking more. With summer being generally slower it's hard to figure out.

All I can guess is that etsy's search algorithm changes periodically and seo that was working well stops being as effective...or maybe other sellers change theirs to be more effective? Wish I knew. Hope it gets better, Berry.

Thanks, I appreciate the input. Summer has been busier for me than expected, until now. My diaper bags (sort of new thing for me) were very prominent in search for a couple of weeks and I got a lot of orders for them. Then suddenly, hardly even any views of them. It's hard to think of this as a viable business when things change so drastically from time to time. Thanks again for the input (and the views, Helen).

My views have actually been rebounding over the past several weeks. I had some really low views during the Summer, although July was busier than expected as far as sales. It could just be the transition of people going back to school and college. A lot of schools around the country are starting this week and schools around here start back up in two weeks.

I am sure it will pick back up for you. People are going to start thinking holiday shopping soon.

I guess it just comes and goes. For me it's disappointing to fall away in the search, because it really felt like more views equaled more sales for a while there. I think the return to school is a good point, Patti.

My views have been up and down all summer. Some weeks I am slammed with both views and sales and then it will get real quiet for a few days. I found that I did much better before school was out, so I am hoping I will get crazy busy again when kids are back to school and moms have more time.
Oh and I absolutely love your shop!! Will definitely be returning when I am in need of new diaper bag!

My views have been quite down all the time, but I don't have many items for sale. I do love your shop and your bags are great! Yours pictures are great and prices are ok. Is it possible, that the most popular vacation time in europe has something to do with this? Maybe people just do something else than play with computer.

This past week my views have been non existent. I attribute most of it to the fact that I've been online about 1 hour total for the last week, so marketing is zero right now. But normally I still get about 100 views a day without listing/marketing for a week, so I'm confused why I'm in the 40s right now. I'll experiment on Monday I guess. Goodluck everyone!

I had 16 views yesterday. That's ridiculous.

My views had plummeted when the format changed, but they were never that low. One thing I think that's hurting me are those live tags of "Related to this Item" under the listing. In the past, the majority of my views came from my listings. I have my listings linked to other parts of my shop. Once I had someone there, they were staying to look around.

I have about a third of those views that I used to, and have only picked up one view in the last week from someone else's shop. So I'm working on my SEO to get people there, and then they wandering off via my tags. I'm not sure how to discourage this. The new layout must be working for somebody, but it isn't for me.

Today's view numbers for me were extremely low and sudden. It felt like I fell off the face of the earth...Not sure what is up but what a bummer. I will have to dust off those tags and try some new ones. My views have been very random from high to low. I will have to work on formatting, titles and tags to see if it improves.

yes, mine have dropped to half in the last week. I don't understand what the new listing format has to do with it though, I feel like something else has changed as well...?

August is typically a slow month for a lot of sellers, probably because of back-to-school season. BUT I also noticed a drop-off in views, in all three stores, and I've been working on SEOs like crazy to make my stuff come up. Kinda confused and frustrated. It does feel like something changed.

My views are always very low, but I have updated all my tags and titles and have not seen any improvement. I made huge improvements in my tags so I expected to see a rise in views.

yea! my view always keep "low". I also want to know what's going on, or may be my tag have problem!

Thanks everyone, for your thoughts. I think for me, I would not have thought much of low views, if my views and sales had not climbed fairly significantly recently. I couldn't figure that out either! Good luck to all.
