Keywords & ads, what helped for me

Okay, perhaps everyone else out there is smarter then me; however, if you are one of those that was making the same mistake as I was this may be helpful for you.

The last few days I have been adjusting my keywords to see if it would help, as I was getting no views on my ads. Just today I realized, that the keywords that are used in the ads are automatically generated based on the item/items you have selected for the ad.

Therefore, you need to go to your stats, and adjust your keywords there (there is an edit button). I was adjusting them directly on the item itself. That didn't work. Have to go to your ads, and add or remove keywords from the list that they generated.

For the past two days I have had 0 views, and over 1000 impressions. I did that today, adjusted my keywords on the stats page, and I already have 6 views just since I did that.

Hope that helps someone that was as confussed as I was.

Thanks...I saw they were auto generated, but had not been able to figure out how to change them. Guess I am no so smart too.

Yes I just noticed that the keywords are now coming directly from your own descriptions!

I need to review my current listings and make sure that all my keywords are relevant and be sure when listing new items that I give this some serious thought!

It seems they do come from the listings but are a bit different.... I just signed up now and realized that instead of "beaded flower" as in my listing the keyword they listed was just "bead flower".
their keywords differed on a few others too... but by endings if that makes any sense...
i am only listing a handful of my items and cut their keyword in half in an attempt to get views that counted.

yes they come from your listings, but what they do is create keywords that go with your listings..for instance...i have beaded necklace, but they say bead necklace is more often looked for so it generates that as a keyword.

Changing it in your listing won't change what keywords you purchased after you purchase them. You need to go to the ad, or "stats" page, and it will show you what keywords you have purchased. You need to update them in your stats page for it to make a difference in the ad search.

What it comes down to is that you are purchasing "keywords", and you need to adjust those on your stats page, not just your listing page.

At least that is how I understand it. Hope that is more clear.
