Keeping an Item Listed

Good Morning!

I have a question I would love to get some input on.
I've got a couple of items that are about to expire, I've already renewed these items once, and they havent gotten much attention, so i'm wondering if I shouldnt renew them again when they expire at the end of the month.

How long do people keep items listed if they arent getting much attention?
Thanks and look forward to people's opinions!

Re: Keeping an Item Listed

Well... Yes, you can renew your stuff whenever you want and many times you want.

There's something that people do to keep their items on top of search pages: renewing all the time.

I think Etsy doesn't encourage us to do it - They say it's better you list new stuff regularly. But particularly I renew an item a day, if I don't have something new to list. It's working for me, because I get some views.

Sales? Well, only when I renew the custom caricature. :P

There are people (mainly jewelry sellers) that renew lots of stuff a day. :/

Re: Keeping an Item Listed

Renew or not renew is one of the biggest discussions on Etsy Forums.

In my oppinion... Well, it's business! We have to do everything we can to get views and, of course, sales: renewing, listing new items, advertising on blogs, facebook pages, twittering, blogging, etc, etc, etc.

Re: Keeping an Item Listed

I would say very few of my items sell on the first listing - it generally takes 2 or 3 "renews" before it's sold.

That's a hard call... I have had some I thought would NEVER sell (like sittin for over a year)... was ready to take them apart and make something else out of them when Poof... someone showed up and bought them

Other times I get so tired of looking at something I just let it expire and then dismantle it and back into the bead box it goes to become something else someday lol
Right now I have a whole bunch i am tired of looking at... I slashed the prices and put them in a sale section until they expire... but do you know what? I find those sale sections never work lol I am sure i will be dismantling them when they expire. Sometimes I use them as donations... like when the local school asks if I would donate something for their fund raiser

Re: Keeping an Item Listed

Yes you keep the previous views and hearts, and the new ones after you renew will be added

It's really a cost/benefit ratio to consider. If the cost of renewal isn't worth the possibility of selling them, then you're probably better off letting them expire. You can always re-list them later if you change your mind.

When I need to renew something that hasn't gotten much attention I try to look at it as an opportunity for improvement. I use the renewal as motivation to tweak my pictures, descriptions, etc. so that they will look new and fresh to anyone who sees them
