Is it best to have a lot of different items in your shop or concentrate on a few.
I like to crochet and knit, so I have many different items. I like to make different items I see but don't necessary want them myself, so I put them in my shop.

One other question - If you have a lot of views on a "made to order" item would you make some of that item as "ready to ship".

I think that is SO important to have many items in your shop. It really increases the liklihood of getting found when people are searching.

I definately think that you should have some "ready to ship" items available (your most popular items, of course). When people want something, they want it now! Of course, many are willing to wait for a special item. But I see many last minute shoppers....(that baby is due any day now, oh, Christmas is only 1 week away, etc). But having things ready, you can take advantage of those types of customers.

I wouldn't base an item's views on whether or not you decide to make it RTS, I would base it more on 'favorites' and previous purchases. But it may worth a try to make a few RTS items and see how it goes! I would also ASK. Post a question on facebook or twitter and see what the response is. Ask what peoples favorite items are, which ones they would be more likely to purchase if there was an RTS option. And lastly I would check out similar shops. See what is selling for them!

It's your shop & you should make what makes you happy. :)
That being said, some ready-to-ship items are nice to have on hand for those that dont want to wait for custom. I've noticed customers who want custom made dont mind waiting.
