I need a buyer's point of view

So I just want a buyer's point of view. I make hairbows and where I attach the barrette on the back there is usually a little hot glue residue, not a lot. When you put the barrette on you can't see it though. I've bought hair clips from stores before and they had a little residue and it never bothered me, but that's just me. What do you guys think?

I also make hairbows so I'm used to it. As long as you can't see it when it's on I think it's fine.

It wouldn't bother me. ETA, I bought a hair bow on here for my niece recently and didn't even look at the back... As long as the front is cute!

Re: I need a buyer's point of view

It personally wouldn't bother me, as a fellow crafter I understand the process and the reason for it.

Having said that, some buyers are SUPER picky and unrealistic. You might want to include a photo where the glue residue is visible, so the buyer has the opportunity to see it before hand, and so that if a picky customer complains after the fact, you can point out that it WAS visible in the listing.

Again, I don't think most people will care, but you probably want to cover your bases just in case.

Re: I need a buyer's point of view

It wouldn't bother me one bit, I think that it ( well could be) a sign that it is hand made. I make jewelry and I have noticed that things that would make me go crazy with my items, in stores are let go, because well they are store bought Items. I do agree with Celene that some buyers are very picky and unrealistic and expects it to be 100% perfect.

Re: I need a buyer's point of view

It depends how much hot glue....could the glue have been easily swiped off with the finger...if there are hot glue 'strands' that could have easily been removed....

I agree with Celene--include a photo of the back so there are no misunderstandings.

Re: I need a buyer's point of view

I would solve the problem by posting pictures of the back of the item too, so the buyer could see the whole item. Some would not be bothered, and pickier customers could look elsewhere. On my barrettes, I show the front and back as shown:

Re: I need a buyer's point of view

As a buyer I would not care one bit. I would however post pictures of all aspects of the item and or explain in detail about the item. Some people do have very high expectations for what they buy and although many of us wouldn't care, there is always that one person who does.

Good luck!

Re: I need a buyer's point of view

Thanks everyone for responding! I'll make sure to take pictures of the front and the back of the bows and I never have glue strands on the bow it's just a little glue peaking out behind the barrette from when I pushed the barrette down on the bow :)

Re: I need a buyer's point of view

As a crafter who uses glue in products, I understand that sometimes it may be visible in a finished design even when you're careful. But customers may not. I don't feel a picture is necessary but you may want to add a little disclaimer saying that "some glue residue is visible at the back of finished hair bows", so there is no confusion. =)
