Just got an email asking me to verify address, birthdate, credit card info..... Is this from Etsy?

Am not sure about this email it looks real , and I don't want to make etsy mad at me :(
anyone ever had a message from Etsy Trust & Safety (update@etsy.com) ??

I think it is a scam. Do not click the link nor give those info. Think about it - why does Etsy need to verify your birthday, credit card number and address at the same time?

The only time I received that kind of email from Etsy was when they needed SSN for tax purpose. It also showed up on my Etsy account(and I contacted Etsy support to make sure,) so I knew it wasn't a scam.

Convo an admin to verify. Etsy Trust & Safety is a legit part of Etsy -- and an email from them would require action. Copy/ paste it into a convo or forward to them and they'll let you know :)

Ok I have now forwarded the e-mail on to spoof@etsy.com which is apparently where you should send any messages that sound like a scam, will leave it at that. as it is 2.00 it the morning here in Australia .

After all why would Etsy want to confirm information they have never been given ? definite scam.

Forward a copy of it to spoof@etsy.com - it may take them a few days to get to it because of the holiday, but they need to know it's going out with their name on it.

No legitimate company would ask you to verify personal info through an email.

they would have that information from when you set up your selling account, or Direct Checkout. Not saying that makes the email legit, but worth asking in case it is something related to either of those.

Also, you can often figure out legitimacy by hovering over the link and looking down at the bottom border of your email program to see what the actual URL is. If it's something totally different than where the email says it's going to, it's definitely a scam.

And yes, I would check for a notification from within Etsy also and send something that wants all that private and financial info to them for verification first.

Definitely sounds dodgy! I hate to admit I caught out like that once years ago and had to change all of my bank details, passwords etc, real nightmare! So now I never, ever take any notice of emails like that.

Today is Thanksgiving Day in the U.S., a major national holiday, and I doubt if anyone is working at Etsy today. Even most of the stores are closed today. It is most likely a scam from a country other than the U.S.
