It happened again! third time on FP in two weeks but still no sale? desperately need to know why

A couple of days ago I posted a question -- I was on the FP and got a ton of views but why no one would pay $10 for the cute things I made.

It happened again :(

This afternoon my necklace was on the FP the third time but still 0 sale.

My husband said I should throw away all my jewelry and become an Etsy consultant … :(

Could someone give me some insights on why does my stuff not sell? I would really appreciate your honest opinion, even if it is "you should throw away your jewelry and move on"...

I was very fortunate to have an item featured on an etsy e-mail. The views were higher than I could have imagined for awhile. That was a turning point for me. Sales didn't go up immediately while the email was circulating, but since that time I have been doing pretty good. I credit that email for exposure to my shop and then the sales started.

So in short...FP gives you exposure, not necessarily sales.

Congrats on FP, though. That is great.

I've been on FP 3 times and gotten one sale out of it for about $10. It happens. FP isn't guaranteed sales, just views. It isn't your target audience.

Does Etsy notify you when you are featured on the Front Page or do you have to check it for yourself?

Michelle your jewelry is absolutely beautiful! I've been on FP a few times and majority of that time I didn't get a sale. It is great for exposure but that is it. I WOULD NOT base your success on the FP but on your # of sales. For a new shop you are doing really well and in one of the most difficult categories!

Keep doing what you are doing! Add more listings, keep getting your shop out there and this one is hard but just don't pay attention to what your husband is saying! My hubby too didn't understand when I started making soap. All he first saw was it made a mess! But over time he too got interested in what I was doing and now he makes a good bit of soap :) Give it time you will see!

My earrings where on Etsy finds a year ago, and I got 3000 views in two days. The earrings got tons of hearts, but they didn`t sell until 5 months later. And they had a fair price.
So I guess you will get more sales after a while.

I'm going to throw something out there - you're using gold plated earwires. I'm allergic to those. For that type of customer, no matter how awesome I think your stuff is (and it's pretty awesome), I'm not going to buy something with plated earwires. *I* don't mind buying stuff with plated earwires, because I have my own jewelry making arsenal at my disposal, and I can replace earwires.

You might consider moving from plated to gold filled and sterling silver.

It's time to branch out. Link your Etay shop to Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Rebelmouse, Flickr.....It will take a while to establish but you will be showing to more buyers and less sellers.

Reduce the number of times you use upscaled, recycled & repurposed. No one is looking for these items. use words to describe what they are, how to use them and who they are for.

and tell your husband to suck an egg. Tell him he should be happy you enjoy what you are doing even though it's taking a while to get there. It's called persistance. Maybe he's threatened by it.

People may be clicking on it and then something happens maybe change your descriptions there has to be some reason I am not sure maybe you are not charging enough and people think only 10 bucks it must be cheap quality charge more and see what happens you would be surprised how it works on here people associate low prices with low quality because that is how people think I would guess

How do you come to that conclusion considering it is exactly these items making it not once, but three times to the front page? There is no logic to that idea at all. Why stop doing something people obviously like seeing.

Sales from the FP are not always immediate. I'm positive you received many shop favorites and item favorites. Some of those people will come back at a later time after 3x on the FP. Guaranteed. You just won't know it was from that.

It is awesome to be on the front page. I have tried selling on etsy since 2007 and I have never sold one item and I will probably never be on the Front page. I think you are doing very well.

I'd be dancing around and around if that happened to me. Just for the simple joy of it. No expectation whatsoever. If there are sales, weee. No sales, still I got to be on FP. Weee too.

Sometimes when I get to excited, my husband has to hug my tight. Just because I dance around and bump into stuffs. I got bruise easily.

You were on FP, not once, but several times, I think that is an accomplishment!
About your husband comment, well, maybe that is a guy thing? Guy doesn't understand the importance of accessory and jewelry to women?
Sales happening on Etsy is a mystery to me, I can't read people's mind, I wish I could.

Lucky you, front page three times! You should be celebrating the fact that your shop has been on the front page. I would love it if my shop got that kind of exposure, but alas hand woven textiles don't seem to make the front page often. Are you sure your hubby wasn't just teasing you? Cheer up, sales will come.

I have been on Etsy almost three years and never made FP and my sales are low. I am in awe of your FP exposure and your sales. Keep doing what you are doing and forget about making it big right away. It all takes time. The FP does not guarantee sales, only views and lots of curiosity.

Complaining about lack of sales in such a short time when you have more sales than most newbies would ever dream of means you have to take another look at your attitude and expectations.

To my knowledge, I've never been on the FP; however, I have close to 3000 sales, so my shop is proof positive that while an appearance on the FP would be lovely and garner exposure, it is not necessary to succeed. You are off to a great start, Michelle. Etsy is a great community - stick with it!

I would be thrilled to make it to the front page! Sales....Front Page! You made it 3 times. You should be thrilled and not worry about getting sales from it. To me its about 'getting noticed'. I would love to have your problem! congrats on the success you have had, but really....embrace what you have started!

Your jewelry is really cute, but not everyone wears holiday-themed accessories. Those who do will be looking for them via search, and not necessarily on the FP. Don't be discouraged, and focus on SEO to attract customers who are looking to buy the kind of items you sell.

29 sales, making it to the FP more than once, and you just joined in February....I'd say you're a success on Etsy. I've heard so many people wait years before they make it to the FP and months before they make their 1st sale.

I agree with some of the other comments. It might not be the sympathy your looking for, but view the FP with gratefulness not the "more mentality." There are many shop owners with fabulous, well crafted, truly talented items in their shops, but don't have ANY sales.

Also, y'all need to remember that you are in a very saturated market. Etsy has TONS of jewelry sellers. It is harder to make sales when every other shop features a similar product as you.

I agree that you need to let go of the negativity. You are not doing so bad! It takes time to really build up your business.

One thing I would do ~ and I know this sounds crazy but raise your prices. You have really really great photos that (I think?) are high quality pieces (besides gold-plated earring backs and such? I think some people might look at your stuff and think "wow, that's cheap, must be poor quality". Just a thought.

Alsp, make sure you are using gold-fill and sterling silver because people do want and care about that.
