Is there something wrong with my shop?

My shop has now been open for just about two weeks and haven't really had any sales. Is my shop setup ok? Is the price good? Does the description make sense? Or does it just take some time?

If anyone has any tips for me or suggestions please let me know.

Re: Is there something wrong with my shop?

It can take months for regular sales to come in. Two weeks and one sale sounds really good!

I do like the pictures for your featured listings; the other pictures don't make me want to click on them. Maybe use the second picture to be your first? They are beautiful pictures, and people will want to click on them!

Your descriptions are very well done. You may want to put something in for your profile, so people can ready more about the artist behind the work.

Good luck!

Re: Is there something wrong with my shop?

I've been open for 6 to 8 weeks, and had 2 sales. You have to be patient.
One thing I will say is that your pcitures aren't clear. Looking at them, it seems more like you're selling PDF files or something for scrapbooking. What I would suggest, is using 2 images. Your front image that people would see should be displaying the frosting itself. People then know exactly what they're looking it, with it already on a cake. Then, once the item has been clicked on and opened, a second image on the image selection panel should show the samples that you currently have as your main image.

Now, people who come across your listings individually won't be inclined to pay much attention to it. The featured items at the top of your shop, however, make it clear what you're selling, and if people happen across your shop as opposed to your listings, it'll be a bit clearer.

In less rambly terms: use images of your frosting as opposed to the available designs to pull people in. That, and, of course, be patient, and try advertising outside of Etsy, either on free blogs, or on payed websites. There are -plenty- of blogs out there who specialise in cake making, decorating, and eating ;P contact some. It's a simple matter of searching for some!

I agree with peachesandpebbles and the orangewindmill. I would want to click onto your second picture, but the first one doesn't pull me in. Maybe you should do a few both ways to see which increase your views.

Re: Is there something wrong with my shop?

Your items are too cool! I do agree with the precious posts- part of it is patience. I am new too and it took about a month before I had a sale. I've started improving my photos and tags and have had 7 sales in the last couple weeks- so things are looking up.
I also agree about your photos- at first glace it looks like you're selling digital downloads. That first glance is the most important- it's what draws people in and gets then to click on your item to check it out. I'd show your designs on cakes for your first photo.
Best of luck!

Re: Is there something wrong with my shop?

I was worried that it would look like a PDF file too. That is why I did 4 pictures with how you can use frosting designs. The only problem with have the second picture first is for the people who are visiting the shop and with a glance want to see all the different designs. The pictures that I have in my shop are the only ones that I have.
I will try to think of how I can do this. Thank you.

Re: Is there something wrong with my shop?

I think your cake photos are adorable, but the PDF photos are so confusing! At first I thought you were selling papers or stationary! I think using one of the featured designs on a cake (and I know this would probably take you a long time to do) would really help, at least for some of your top items. Maybe if you mix them up (cake photos and PDF photos) it would make sense more instantly to the buyer.

You have a super unique product, but the PDF image is not letting me see it right away.

Re: Is there something wrong with my shop?

I am a little confused looking at your shop...are you selling just the cake frosting designs? It would look better to have your main photo as a decorated cake only then explain in your descriptions that you are selling the PDF image.

Good luck, such a unique product!

I agree that your shop looks yummy, but confusing. It looks like you are selling printable stationary.

AlmondCrafts - I will try and change it up. But thank you.
moonlightdesigns2 - They are all edible images. These are just the designs that can be printed on the frosting sheet.
AddictionToColor and hildes - Thank you!
apieceofparadise - I'm glad I asked cause it sounds like everyone is a little confused so that will be something I will have to work on.
