Is my stuff unoriginal, what types of things should I add.

Hey there,
I recently re opened after a 1 year baby break. I did well in my previous genre with sewing, but when I came back I wanted to stick to crochet (more flexible with my schedule) so far I have 16 things in my shop, but I am wondering if it is all too common...I plan to add more hats, and a lot more stuffed animals (as well as games (checkers, puppets), and lovies....am I off? Is this nitch too popular? Thanks!

Your stuff is cute, but there is so much crochet stuff on Etsy. You can seriously find anything in a crochet form (from crochet food and animals, to clothes and home decor).

Like the jewelry category, it's just really saturated and hard to break into.

Your shop is super cute! If you enjoy what you're doing you should keep doing it! The way to get seen on Etsy is to have killer photos and LOTS of items, with lots of new items on a regular basis.

If you can, you should also try to make your backgrounds the same (white would be best for your items, in my opinion) and when you have more items you can change up the first photo to maybe show a close up or different angle.

I think your products are fine but you are in a very competitive market. You need to make sure your pictures pop! You want to make sure that when someone types in "Hello Kitty crochet hat" & gets 800 hits, your item stands out. I do think sock monkey & owl hats are over done. I dropped those from my shop a while ago.

I think those animal hats are adorable. I don't think it's too common -- I mean look how many jewelry shops there are. If it's what you love, don't let anything stop you.

Most categories on Etsy are saturated...we can't escape this. The thing about knits and crochet is that each piece is unique...no one can do the exact same as you, there are so many variations and takes on things. I do have similar items to other shops, what I do to make them stand out is I try my best to take good photos, good backgrounds, and work on my brand, and getting found. I try to put a lot of 'me' into what I do. Put your personal touch on it, and remember why you set up shop to begin with! :)

I would also be careful with licensed characters such as Sanrio, Disney...

It is so hard when you're in a saturated market, i.e crochet & jewellery. It is about finding a style, working with it and sticking to it. Good luck!

thanks for the feedback....Like you said, I love it, so if I do, I know others will also....I was successful with my clothing because I loved it and went with it.

Any other suggestions? How do you think my pictures are now...I am going to be working on taking out the two that I have left that are on the carpet. What do you think about chevron baby blankets? too much also?

Love your shop! Very cute! Particularly the fox and cow one! Be careful about using "captain America' in your titles/descriptions, though. There might be problems with licensing...I would use "superhero" instead..

Be careful with your white balance when you take your pics, some look blue-ish.
I'd love to see some hip-trendy baby blankets, chevrons is a great idea!
Games would be a great idea, too!

I think your stuff looks great, but the most important thing is going to be having a large inventory (I am working on this as well. I think hats in general look better when displayed on something head-shaped.

I think your items are cute! But...I think they would be even better if you had them on an adorable little baby with soft background instead of bright white...just my opinion.

Your stuff is soooooo cute! If thats what you like to do keep at it! I'm sure as you go along more ideas will come and can be very unique to help you stand out, not that I don't think you do already. Everything looks very well made and you have great pictures that will take you far once again!

I only started crocheting last winter, so I am no expert by any means but...

I do think you could stand to raise your prices. Crocheting takes a lot of time and your prices should reflect that.

Also, maybe you could do some unusual types of hats/gloves/sets. What springs to mind is a narwhal, unicorn, toadstool...just silly stuff like that.

Thanks! I am in the process of fixing some of my photos with photo fuse right now. So, you think my prices are too low? Crochet DOES take a lot of time, but I don't want to go too high because I would like to stay competitive.
