Is my shop confusing?

I'm thinking about separating my shops into three. One for my picture frames and sets, one for my upcycled/recycled home decor, and one for pillows. What do you think? Or is my shop ok how it is? My husband told me he thought it looked confusing and then pointed out that most of the super successful shops on etsy focuses on one things, ie frames, jewelry, pillows, photograhy, etc.

Thanks for any and all help!

Re: Is my shop confusing?

I don't think it is at all confusing - you are in the same genre, so it looked completely cohesive to me, and very nice. I really like your stuff!

Re: Is my shop confusing?

Thanks Melysa! I just wonder whether I would get more sales if I focused on one product per shop as my target market for each product.

Re: Is my shop confusing?

I think it all looks really good together! i love your shop! I do think thats true though that alot of the successful shops have one type of product they sell.

But yours is all in the home decor catagory. I dont see it benifitting you greatly to split them up. I would not open another shop, I dont like having two! :)

Re: Is my shop confusing?

Hi Kristina ~ I think it works as is, and I think it has a lot to do with your simple, clean backgrounds.

Does your husband actually know for certain that most of the super successful shops on etsy focus on one thing...

Re: Is my shop confusing?

Also I think having a couple different products can get more people into your shop. They may come in on a pillow and end up buying a frame...:)

Re: Is my shop confusing?

It's enough to maintain one shop on Etsy. I can't imagine what it is like to own more than one. I am in awe of those who can handle more than one here as well as other places.
Your shop is wonderful.

If you ever noticed some of the picture frame sellers, their whole shop is picture frames, nothing else, they have 1000's of sales.

I see the same thing with pillow sellers.

Re: Is my shop confusing?

I think it looks wonderful, I really like shops with some variety, and don't feel like any stick out as not belonging. Also, shops with fewer items get less views, so more shops with less items would not be an advantage, I don't think....

You are right, it would take a lot of work to fill three shops, but if that leads to a better overall brand for all three shops, I might consider it!

Re: Is my shop confusing?

I think if you have the energy and time, you should go with 2 shops.
One for pillow covers and any fabric related decor
2nd one for frames, sconces etc

Most of the successful shops have one category of products. I think it lends to their success in some way.

I didn't start a 2nd shop, as I wasn't sure I had the time to promote it and get traffic.

Re: Is my shop confusing?

Thanks Paint! That is what I have seen consistently on Etsy, so I am seriously considering splitting them up. Most of the stores sell one category of products or one "style" of products. It's a hard decision.

Re: Is my shop confusing?

I'm glad you brought that up Kristina. I too think my shop may be confusing.
It's just making things is an obsession, all kinds of things.
I keep thinking maybe someone else will like what I like......

I don't think your shop is confusing Nina, but I do have a suggestion, with your pins, they are sooo cute, but you don't mention in the title who they are for or what they are used for, I had to read your description to figure out that they were for quilters/sewers. Maybe you could could put something in your title?

Re: Is my shop confusing?

@Kristina, until you start a 2nd shop, you can rearrange similar things together in your shop, and see how it looks.

1st page : 1 row each of same kind of products
2nd and 3rd page : keep all pillows together, and similarly other stuff

Not many buyers seem to be using the "Shop sections", which would basically show that.

Re: Is my shop confusing?

Your shop is lovely. If I were poking around a beach town, I might skip a frame shop, but would certainly go into one with a window display like your etsy shop.

Just because men can only think about one thing at a time, doesn't mean we gals aren't glad to see a little variety.

Your items fit your shop's name. And your presentation is spectacular. I think you're fine.

Re: Is my shop confusing?

@Paint - I have tried to do that, but then I think, what should I put on my first page? Pillows? Frames? Mirrors? And which I items do I choose for my featured?

Re: Is my shop confusing?

I don't think your shop is confusing at all=) And you have some great stuff btw! I think husbands are just full of opinions, I know mine is ;). He is right about the super focused shops doing well but yours is all in the same category. I know that as a buyer I am more likely to buy something for my home if I can easily find other things which will tie in well, and you are making that much easier by offering various products.
p.s. this one is my fav =)
