Including shop name in listing title

I include the name of my shop in my tags, but I am considering including it in the title of my listings as well. Is this allowed by Etsy?

I'd be interested in hearing others' opinions as to pros or cons.

Thanks

Re: Including shop name in listing title

I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed, but I guess you wouldn't want to let it take the place of other keywords that would be necessary for searches and relevancy. If your store isn't very well known, then people may not know to type in your title in searches. BUT if your shop is really popular (and it DOES look like you're doing well!), then it would bring up your shop right away!
Good luck!!!! :) :) :)

Thanks for the perspective Lewis and Bucky and good luck to you as well. I think that for those of us who have considerable competition and items that are easily duplicated (like jewelry etc) it might be a good way to differentiate for customers who have purchased from you in the past. That is my thinking. Just wondering if it's ok by Etsy.

I see no reason it wouldn't be ok. Doesn't seem to be breaking any rules at all.

Re: Including shop name in listing title

I've previously seen and therefter done it myself (on my other shop tho) the shop name on Listings and I don't find it awkward at all. When I saw it, I thought it makes a good professional impression of the seller. Of course, it 3 lines long Listing name doesnt overshadow it :) Just do it. Nike said I should tell you!

Re: Including shop name in listing title

You can call your items anything you wish. Just remember that when you include your shop name in the title that it does start to look a bit 'funky' in google

Your "Vintage Chenille Baby Quilt Pastels" currently shows up in google as
"Vintage Chenille Baby Quilt Pastels by SurelyChenille on Etsy" so it will look kind of funny when its called
"Vintage Chenille Baby Quilt Pastels by SurelyChenille by SurelyChenille on Etsy"

To see what your current titles look like in Google, you can use the 'see what this looks like in google' preview when you are editing your items.

Or you can take a look at the very top of your screen in the browser title bar.

Re: Including shop name in listing title

Having it in your tags should be enough. Don't waste precious space in your title with your shop name! I have almondcrafts in some of my tags and almond crafts in others. This seems to be enough for the people who search by my shop name (like, only 1 person a week!).

Thanks for all of your perspectives, I really appreciate it. Crochetgal, thanks for bringing up the google angle. Maybe my competitive spirit is oershadowing my good sense! LOL

I really enjoy this team and interacting with other Etsians. I have always said that the downside of this kind of work is that it's isolating...I guess that's another thread.
