Including feedback notes within listing description

I noticed that some people copy/paste positive feedback from customers right into their item description. I have never thought of doing this, but it looks like a great idea. Any thoughts?

Re: Including feedback notes within listing description

I have felt kind of uncomfortable about it- the bragging aspect about it (not that it bothers me when others do it). But if I think of it as some kind of marketing tool, and remember that I've earned those positive comments, maybe I could figure out a way to do it. I probably never will, though- not really my style. But again, it's not a turn off for me when I see it.

Re: Including feedback notes within listing description

I do it - maximum 3 per listing - near the end......and have had people comment on that is why they bought so I say GO for it!

Re: Including feedback notes within listing description

I've been toying with this idea... I would like to add in a graphic as one of the "photos" slots when I re-shoot all of my coasters in a few weeks. I think it's nice idea, since I really do think we over-stress about feedback around here, and the customers do not pay attention to it as much as we think. ( I just really think Etsy is laid out weird and have run into all sorts of people who have had trouble using it. )

So pointing it out can be a helpful marketing tool, although I feel it's super cheesy too, when I see a testimonial on like an informercial, I just know they were being paid to say that :)

That's why I personally, haven't made the jump yet... still on the fence.

Re: Including feedback notes within listing description

Never thought of doing this before, but I'm gonna try it. I really don't think shoppers delve in to the feedback very often.

Exactly what I was trying to convey Rebecca, I would say experienced online shoppers probably do, but the average joe, not so much.

Re: Including feedback notes within listing description

Definitely a cool idea as long as you ask the permission of the person you plan to quote. If I were to post a glowing review for something I purchased on Etsy (which I tend to do) I might feel a bit used if I happened to come across an item description for something I'd purchased with a promotional quote from me that was without my knowledge or permission. If ever asked, I would, of course, say "Definitely!"

Re: Including feedback notes within listing description

Anybody can read your Feedback so I didn't think you would need permission. You don't have to put the buyer's name just the comment.

Interesting idea!!! I've put customer's comments on my facebook page (with their permission of course), but I hadn't thought about putting them in my listings!

I've done this on a few listings, after asking the customers' permission. I don't know whether it was necessary to ask, but I thought it best. They all said yes! I've also used a particularly nice quote at the top of my shop announcement.

Re: Including feedback notes within listing description

Funny, I'm pretty sure I got a sale today for exactly this reason - I directed her to positive feedback and a link to a blog feature that I'd included in my listings!

For me, as a new shop with products that look better in real life (that's a photo issue I'm still trying to resolve!!), having feedback gives that extra boost of confidence, especially when buying online. We are in a very competitive market place and we're here to make sales, so every little bit helps!!!

And I totally agree that we work hard, we've earned that positive feedback!!

Oh - and I did ask permission before using, even though it's public I think it's just the right thing to do to ask someone when you're about to cut and paste and display their words!!

I say, go for it! :)
