There are pros and cons about guaranteeing your work but I think the pros outweigh the cons. Yes, it will be a bit of a hassle for me to redo a cushion because it was not the right measurements when it arrived. The length was short one whole inch!!!! YIKES. I usually measure before I do the final sewing. I guess I was a bit excited to get it out because I am falling behind in my orders. I knew the foam was cut correctly so I didn't recheck the measurements, which is unusual for me.
I do think it helps by having this policy when you have a higher priced item. It is a risk you take though. But, I can reuse the foam or resale the old cushion. It is not a total waste. I have to be willing to stand up to my promises.
My customer said she would make do with it and loved the quality of my sewing, but I insisted on replacing it. I didn't want to loose sleep over knowing someone was not 100% satisfied. What would she be telling her friends about the cushion when they saw it? Better she tell them...."Look at this! And she made it over for me when it wasn't right!" I think that will go a long way in bringing new business to my store.
I will ship the remade cushion to the buyer and they will return the old one in the same carton using my prepaid shipping label I will include.
