How to grow your business with twitter?

Everyone suggests using social media to advertise your shop, so I got an account on twitter but don't understand how to use it to get business.

I post personal updates and photos, music, news articles. I mix in posts of new items too. I only have 46 followers, mostly other etsy shop owners though. I have a link for my shop in my profile but no buyers have added me. I also did a giveaway when I first created my account last month, and advertised it on etsy and in my shop.

I'm clueless.

How do you use twitter to get or grow your business? What do you do to get sales and views from there? Have you had people find your shop through twitter?

1st, it would be helpful if you enable the "Follow" on Twitter button in your Etsy shop.

2nd , search on Twitter for users who have similar interests, products, etc. that you have (they will likely follow your back). Do this gradually.... maybe 10 new follows a day. Keep an eye on recommended follows on Twitter as well as other Etsy folk in General. If you follow me, I will follow you back (I'm at around 1000 followers... quite a few really great ones too).

3rd
Don't just promote on twitter, try to do one promotional tweet to every 3 to 6 non-promotional tweet. This can be updates on your day, helpful articles you're reading, conversations with followers.

4th
If you want your followers to "ReTweet" your stuff... "ReTweet" theirs. Always reciprocate.

5th
#FF is a great way to grow followers. #FF is # Friday Follow I am now more picky about my FFs but I used to FF everyone. I found some great followers this way. Search #FF to see how it works.

6th through ?????

Have a few Twitter questions, just new and trying to figure it out! (also OLD!)
I figured out how to follow people but don't know how to find a person except in search (by name only?)
I can retweet but it won't let me reply to someone I am not following, so how do I follow them?
What is the # stuff, what does it mean and how do i send a tweet with a web page on it? do I just # my etsy address? This # thing has me confused when it seems to shorten things.
I'm lost on #FF, what is that?
