How many of you have your own website?

I'm thinking about creating a separate website of my own but I'm not sure if it's worth the double-work.

Do a lot of you have a separate site and has it increased your success?

Have a look at CreateHype.com - she provides marketing advice for entrepreneurs (female particularly). I was of the same mind, why bother with the extra work. But I had joined her newsletter and in came this advice about why you SHOULD have your own website. She sold me. Join for her newsletter, truly excellent advice.

I have my own website where I make most of my sales. Opened it around April with the help of a website designer, and the features are endless. A kazillion features to upsell, keep people in your shop, things you can do to go after abandoned carts, you name it.

I created my own website at the same time as my etsy shop...using wordpress...time consuming...and honestly the only comments i get are from spam auto messagers! BUT i have heard a lot of people have gone there to see more pictures of my items....then they actually BUY them from my Etsy shop...so is it worth it? absolutely....cheap money.

Really I have some listing up on there but have ended up using it as a simi blog and a gallery....which is hooked up to my FB account post a photo there it lands on my website.

I used to get a fair bit of traffic and sales through it but since the 'Recession' not so much. I still keep it up though, even though it's a pain in the butt and takes a lot of my time to manage.

I do - one site for the jewelry and purses and another for the soaps - they're hosted through Weebly, which is SUPER easy to set up. If you can set up an Etsy shop, you can do Weebly.

I have my own website that links shoppers to my Etsy site. I wouldn't say it drives in a ton of traffic, but it was easy to set up and makes me feel more professional, here it is!

I have my own site but it's more of a blog as well. I have honestly never thought about selling on it but if you create a weebly it's pretty easy instead of just a regular domain name to me. Good luck!

I like to use mine as a gallery of items I've made, not ones that are currently for sale. I know, the blog is very neglected - I'm working on improving that!

I'm working on mine. I'm just going to use a free weebly.com site to use their blog and have a shop page that will have my Etsy mini.

Even if you don't have a cart your own website is a good idea.

We've had another website since we started on Etsy, although it never used to get much traffic. But we recently had it completely redone, and the sales are starting to pick up quite a bit!

I think it's definitely worth it if this is your business more than a hobby. With your own site you have complete control over the look and feel of your site, which to me, is very important.

Great advice everyone. I've been thinking about starting my website again, I had one a few years ago but let it fall apart. Now that I'm staying on top of things a little bit better I think I may make the leap and create another website. I've heard a lot of good things about having your own site and think it may be a good idea now!
