How many of you have a blog?

I'm considering opening a blog (so far I only draw the header :P), and I wanted to ask,
how many of you have a blog?
And does it really work? You actually get sales from your blog readers?
I'm not going to write only about my etsy shop,
I want it to be about craft, illustration and graphic design. (wile in my etsy shop I sell hair accessories)

I just recently started http://hotpadhangout.blogspot.com/ to promote my Etsy shop and others can join in on Linkups like today I have Treasury Tuesday going and another one on Saturday.

I felt it easier to keep the 2 somewhat separate so as not to confuse the reader with too much information all at once.

I think most of us have blogs. It is a great way to tell the tales of your creative adventures!

I've had a blog for a while, but only recently opened a shop but finds it does bring a lot of people to it (ambergrayson.blogspot.com/) and you can blog about new items you are working on which i think people are always interested in, they like to hear the story behind it all :)

but i dont know what to put as my URL :/ i dont know if i want krystle clear creations anymore as my shop name... so i may just have to wait till i figure out what i want haha.. i tried just krystle clear but its taken :( by someone who hasnt updated there blog since 2005! grrrr

I like how you can keep people engaged in your process or give hints about future plans through the blog, plus it is a good way for potential costumers to get to know you a bit

I started one this past week and I really enjoy it. Yes I have had some views from it on my shop since starting. I think its awesome to give people a glimpse of the maker behind the mask. I don't only promote my items but also my life and daily happenings. It's nice because its kind of therapeutic, like journaling.

Blogs can be and are a lot of work, to build a relevant following that has an impact on sales it will require constant work to promote and get exposure...no different then running a shop.

I like to blog as another creative outlet, it is pretty much always in my top 10 of referring sites. I am more the slow and steady pace, 3 years in it is still a building process. I like it so it is worth it to me.

I have a blog, but I rarely write about my Etsy shop. It sends very little traffic my way (like, 1, 2 views a day). However, on those rare days I do post about my shop, my views from the blog skyrocket.
The lack of traffic doesn't really bother me so much, because I've found a little niche and I enjoy writing and sharing.
It could wind up being completely different for you, you could see tons of traffic and sales coming from your blog. You'll never know unless you try it :)
So if starting a blog is something you really want to do, I say go for it. It can never hurt to get yourself out there in any way possible, right? Best of luck and happy blogging!

I have a blog that if I'm honest I did start because I hoped it would generate sales but I found that soon became secondary:)
I really enjoyed writing posts, I like making the tutorials and I've met interesting people by doing interviews with really talented makers.
I don't believe I've made any sales from it, if some come then fine but I love blogging.

I have a blog, but I take a different approach than most crafters. My blog doesn't feature anything except skincare, DIY recipes, beauty trends, and bath and body information. It is geared toward research based and informative (and fun!) articles that will bring in lots of search engine traffic.

In fact, one of my articles is on the first page of google search. I then have an ad for my website on my sidebar, and I do get a lot of traffic from it.
