Mine is starting off with a bang. I have had 7 orders (8 items) in the first 2 days of December. I expect sales to taper off about mid month, but hopefully they will continue to be good until then.
Having a good start! Today I had a crazy number of views (~600 when typically I get ~200$. Did anybody else have an uptick today? Wondering if something in the algorithm changed.
No so good. I keep working to get my online views and sales up. I have had a shop open since 2009 I think and this business I have had going for three years. I have only really started to focus on my online sales since July. I have been doing art festivals and farmers markets to make a living. But this last season my sales were down $10k over the whole summer so I wasn't able to afford to pay for any holiday shows. I have been busting my butt to get my shop going and busy for the holidays but not much action there. I am in several facebook Etsy tutoring groups, I promote on all major social media, I have a webpage, I am in Etsy teams, I make treasuries, I am pretty darn good on my SEO like tags/titles/descriptions and show up pretty high in most searches. Kind of don't get what I might be missing.
Sales are very slow and require a great deal of promo and ad spend -- so the 11 sales I've had in the last 30 days, don't quite add up to all the handwork and $$ spent! I was hoping for a bit more around this time of the year.
I'm promoting with in Etsy teams, researching my keywords via google keyword research tools, running a small promoted listings campaign, I've slashed prices for end-of-the-line items, currently offering 48 hour free international shipping and gift wrapping. Not sure what else I can do! Maybe I will try creating treasuries and continue tweaking keywords. Next on the agenda for 2016 is to build a strong social media presence - maybe that will help with my summer listings.
I'm getting a fair amount of views and favs with the above promos but unfortunately for some reason they are not translating to sales! Dreading the time after Christmas when sales will probably slow down even more :/
Seems like I'm shopping more on Etsy rather than selling! :))
This is now officially my best month ever for number of items sold and revenue! I got a bunch of last minute Christmas orders the last couple of days.
I've had to deactivate 34 listings for things that I won't have time to make in time for Christmas. Next year I am going to make my "last order dates for shipping in time for Christmas" earlier so I don't have to deactivate listings.
umm etsy side has been weak really weak, looking at 50 orders less for past 30 days then last year in the dashboard. My site and amazon made up for it...but I was hoping to keep etsy at the same level. First time ever I can say I made less now then the same month in the years before.
plus my best holiday seller for the past 4 christmas has been Meh, looked at competitions sales they dont seem to getting such either. So...IDK just out of fashion this year? (made more yellow subs then I ever thought possible On the other hand)
Company needs some readjustment, growing pains I think.
In our shop this December is relatively less busy, than 1 year ago. We have 9 orders less than in the same period last year. It takes much more time and effort in promotion to get a sale!
Amy, I am in the same boat as you! It's been my best December yet, which is awesome because my in-person sales at craft fairs, etc has been dismal. I think a lot of people have just gone to online shopping. But maybe things are just cyclic too. My first Christmas on etsy was horrible, the 2nd great, the 3rd really-not-so-great, and this one great again. But the month isn't over yet. Here's wishing everyone more last minute sales before the holidays.
13 sales this month, which is great. Listing new charms each day in a bid to make this a success! I opened my shop in 2011 but didn't really get going with it. In October this year I decided to have another go, but put more time into it. So far, so good but lots of work and learning still to do! Good luck everyone :)
My shop was re-invented this year with a much larger inventory and I can barely keep up with orders. Will certainly need to plan better next year. Personalized items are so difficult as you can't keep them ready in inventory. Not complaining but ready for a break:)
My December is pretty busy! My hooks don't relax (I crochet goodies for babies, kids and moms) but it makes me really happy! And this is Christmas soon, I love this time of year!!! <3
Think i am ready for a break. I have worked my poor fingers to the bone. I sold out on a lot of my items in stock especially the boys items. I have had time to replenish some stock but not everything. My son has told me my craft room is like a bomb has gone off in it, and to be honest it is as i just havent had the time to clean in in between orders. still just over a week left so one final push and then looking forward to a good few days off. Wish everyone a great Christmas and heres to a very successful new year.
