How does Google Analytics work?

How do I set this up? Where do you paste the code?

After you get the code from google analytics you have to go to My account/shop settings/options and then click on the web analytics tab paste the code there and save. :) You may have to wait a few minutes for google to pick up the code after that.

Sorry to barge in on this thread... but when I tried to paste the code into my etsy box it won't include the whole code.

Any ideas?

So weird I just started this last night...the code begins with UA...or AU...how helpful is that? (: You don't entr the whole address...also be sure when it asks you what you want to follow you enter etsy.com not your shop address...if you have already done this wrong...do into google analytics and right next to where the etsy.comyourstorename is a pencil will pop up for you to edit your shop name off. I believe the code you put in on etsy sinks up your info. I just got it straightened out this morning and haven't seen any info yet...hope that hellps...not really sure what the info will be or how helpful, but I am giving it a whirl...

Kelli you're a life saver... I was about to go crazy!! You're right, etsy accepted it when I only entered that little bit... I was trying to include a whole huge box of script.

Google hasn't registered anything yet but others say it may take a while... we'll see.

I'm having the same problem sweetbabylove. There's a ! in the status box. Etsy says it may take 24hrs to see changes... I'm hoping time will fix it.

Okay easier....craftopolis.org...it shows you results more instantly and you then click the link and it will also link the info to google analytics....and I actually got to see some action over the past hour....try that!!

Google does take an entire 24 hours to start tracking you site, but its pretty cool when its up and running. Until then, you will see a caution sign in your account, which tomorrow will be changed to a green check mark. You can then see all kinds of neat information about your site visitors.

If you look a few posts up sweeterthansweets has posted a link to some articles on it. It is actually not near as hard as I would have thought. I think it took all of 5 minutes and is way worth it. Best of Luck!
