How do you get your Photos to look perfect?

I have been playing with my photos for a while. They are getting better but they aren't there yet.

I use a plain point and shoot 120.00 camera and i use windows based program.

What camera do you use?
What editor do you use?

Your photos are fantastic by the way. I have a much more expensive camera, and photography training. I find that I am not putting enough effort into the photos.

The backgrounds and angles you used are an inspiration! Now that the weather has cleared I plan to reshoot my inventory.

Canon Ixus 96015. When I bought this, I wanted to have a camera with good macro for a compact camera. I`m not sure if they sell this camera now. I use Photoshop.
I really want a hybrid camera or a SLR, but they are too expensive.

Your pictures are great! They look perfect to me. I am still trying to figure out how to get good shots of my items. I usually have to take pictures at night. Even during the day there isn't much natural sunlight where I live because its been so cold and gloomy!

I love using Natural light. My flash is horrible on my camera so i have to have it turned off. Try taking them outside any ways! outside light is almost always brighter than inside.

Your pictures are great, I don't think you have to change anything. Your right, nothing works better than natural light, that is what I use for mine. :)

I love using Natural light as well and must say your pictures are damn good!

I still have a long way to go. Some of product pictures really really need tweeking...I have to go and do them again. Lazy that I am!!!

I use a Canon Rebel Xsi. I went to a local photography class to take lessons on how to use my Camera. Its really helped me. I also use Fotofuze and picnic.

OliveWave, I'm at a loss your pictures are not only beautiful but very creative which draws the eye in because we want to see more! I've been trying to take pictures outside because the lighting is much better. I just have to learn how to work with the sun! What your doing is very right. Love your items too!

I love your photos! They DO look very professional! Mine are a C or C- at best. I also have a 140 camera very plain. I used to have a high end camera but it broke 2 months before I opened the store. I could only afford a basic camera.

I have been taking all my pictures indoors but I want to do some out door shooting in the next few days!

Your photos are gorgeous. I am so impressed with what you have been able to achieve with a basic camera!

I work on my photos constantly but it has been a very long learning curve. I just recently began to use natural light after many months using a simple lightbox I made (and I love it!). I am personally still learning how to use the camera and software to their best advantage, but I do have access to a digital SLR (Nikon D40) and Photoshop.

You might already know this, but I would recommend that you find a camera that has a macro setting and can take RAW format photos. You are already doing amazing, but I think that those tools might take your photography to the level you are striving for.

OliverWave, You have great photos! I have a Kodak XE. I would like to get a camera that can focus a little better as the one i have now doesn't pick up the texture in some of my paintings but I do use natural light. I'm pretty happy with my photos on an individual basis but when put altogether, well let's just say I have a very busy looking shop;)

OliverWave, I agree, you're photos are beautiful! I use a new Nikon Coolpix and Picnik, and my photos don't look nearly as crisp and professional as yours. I could use advice from you!

Taking them outside without blur is difficult without a tripod. Your pictures are GREAT for a point and shoot, I don't think you have anything to worry about!

I think your photos are fantastic! I would never assume you were using a point and shoot.

I use a Canon T2i and photoshop for editing. :)

wow OliveWave I agree with so many of these posts!! Your photos are very imaginative, lit well, focus on your items and generally entice me to buy :D

My hardest challenge is reflective lighting and closeups. My camera is not super great at close ups and when I crop I never go close enough. What I think is 'perfect' in Picknik is NOT CLOSE ENOUGH when you see all the pieces together in my shop.
