How do they do it?!

How do people list an item and within 24 hours have hundreds of views and favorites? These arent items that have been on the front page. Their items get tons of exposure.
I have over 2500 Facebook fans. I updated reguarly, I change tags. I am on several promotional teams. I started selling internationally. I have resonable prices with resonable shipping.
I dont understand how they get so much shop traffic. :(

I have been wondering this same thing. I saw that one eyeshadow had been listed today and it already had 100 plus treasuries where the item is featured.

The items are probably renewed items. Renewed items don't lose their number of views, favorites, etc.

Are you sure that these items aren't newly relisted, rather than newly listed?

Pretty sure bc one shop remakes jewelry from vintage items, so they are almost all OOAK.

The other also sells mostly OOAK items.

I searched for shops that are local to me that sell similar items. They are very successful and both started around the same time as me. I cant figure out how they have been so successful. I am working so hard on advertsing and marketing. I spend hours everyday on this.

April, I think the others are saying that the items you are referring to are perhaps old listings that didn't sell so the shop owner relisted the item which retains faves & treasuries. Relisting isn't just for multiple items that are the same/similar.

I dont think that they are old listings. These are items that when listed had 0 views and hearts, so I can figure it out . If they were renewed they would have kept their views and hearts

I know that there are some people on here that are paid to favorite items, add them to treasuries, promote them on Facebook, and so on. I think that is what a lot of people who you see with huge numbers do. I'm not sure if it does anything for them. You gotta think if the item is THAT "liked" why hasn't anyone bought it yet?

Hmm...maybe they are listing as OOAK, but they are selling and then renewing and keeping all of that item love. That really wouldn't be a OOAK item, right? But I guess not everyone follows the 'rules', or it could be that it really is a brand new listing and they just have a huge following. Maybe they had another online shop or another shop somewhere else for awhile and opened this shop also.

It amazes me some of the shops on here that have like 20 salsa day and they are a stay at home mom. How do they do that? :)

Hmmm, I'm not absolutely sure. However, I made a huge mistake last night while listing a new item. The new item was similar to an item that I'd already listed, but instead of copying the listing, I hit the edit button instead. Shortly after, I was very surprised (and excited) to see the rapid response to the new listing....... until I realized my mistake. The new item had taken on the stats from the older listing. Living and learning :)

Unless you're absolutely sure the item started with 0 views, it could be a sold item listing that they changed the info to and renewed it. I've seen that happen in other shops. Or they broadcast a brand new listing on every social media outlet on the Net. ;) If that's the case, wow, impressive!

I'm with Alisha on this one. How can some of these items have hundreds (thousands?) of views and still not be sold. Getting the right kind of views is key.

There's no way its a brand new listing. They might have deactivated the item temporarily, and then relisted it, or it might have expired and then they relisted it. It doesn't have to have been sold to be renewed. Some people just renew in-date listings as it will temporarily put you on the newly listed items part of the front page.

They may have hundreds of treasuries/likes/views but it doesn't mean they are making a profit!

If you participate in tonnes of teams and team games you can get a lot of views and hearts, and these will up your place in the relevancy search, but if the main place you are getting seen is team games, I don't think that many sellers participating in those games are actually looking to buy something.

I agree with the posters that say it's a renewed listing. You can change everything about a listing, pics, description, title etc and still call it renewed. Pretty savy marketing trick I'd say.
