I feel that my shop is pretty good in its presentation, seo, titles etc. I want to do this full time but i dont get sales everday or even most weeks! I came upon a shop that has 6 sales already today.

To those high sales shops: Do you guys have other shops? Do you promote your shops in other ways? Have you made a name for yourself?

ty in advance for feedback

Re: How do some get multiple orders daily and others dont?

I don't sell art, but I do get many multiple sales a day. Of course my price point is low too. I'd love to be selling as many per day as I do at a $40 price point, but I don't think that would happen!! :) :) I do think the key is adding new items each day. I add at least 2-3 new things a day and I notice when i don't do that, my sales do slow. I would definitely consider turning your art into smaller things that you can make over and over. Having a listing that renews as soon as it sells is a big benefit to the Etsy search algorithm. So maybe have key chains, magnets, etc... something smaller to get people in the door to look at your bigger stuff.

Best of luck!
Rachel

Re: How do some get multiple orders daily and others dont?

What Mandy said: I am torn between wanting more sales and then not having the time to create them.

HOWEVER, some shops that have many sales per day are selling "fake handmade". Example: do a search for "lace ruffle romper" and you'll find dozens of sellers with exactly the same item: a stretch nylon baby outfit that comes in 3 sizes and is absolutely mass-produced in China. You can oer them by the case from importers, for $50/dozen, and resell them on Etsy for $24.90 (a lot of sellers seem to be in a price war on this item).

Another example: brides one-size "getting ready" robes. Some shops sell more than a human could possibly sew in one day. Are the "handmade"? Depends on your definition. Somebody made them...in a factory in India. Did the seller make them?

I'm sure there are many, many more situations like this...these caught my eye because I sell childrens-wear and intimate apparel. Of course, jewelry is saturated with fake-handmade (bubble necklace anyone?).

Oh the dreaded bubble necklace... I am always reporting that one!

I too would love to have this as my main form of income. I am in jewellery, and jewellery, like art, is also personal. I find the best thing to do, is try to promote to your target market.

In my case, people who buy wooden jewellery, people who like paper and craft, people who like decoupage etc..

It is a slow process, but you're building up rather than building down.

Re: How do some get multiple orders daily and others dont?

I have two shops and have multiple daily sales between both. It's definitely taken time - this shop will be 3 years old this July and the other one will be 2 in a couple weeks. I don't really do alot of outside promotion, and probably the best advice I can give is just to keep listing more items! I try to make sure I list/renew at least 1 item/shop/day. It keeps things fresh and moving around in both shops. Best wishes!

Your items are great. I love the flowers that are 3D. Keep up the creating and as you add more to your shop hopefully people will find you. Selling at craft shows might also be an option for you. Good luck, Ellen
