Hi there,

Making my first sale to a complete stranger was such an indescribable feeling. Up until then, all of my customers had been friends or family members. As soon as I saw the order, I immediately texted my best friend and then rushed to ship the item out.

How did you make your first sale to a stranger? I’m working on a potential article for the Seller Handbook, and I want to hear from you. Was there a turning point in your shop that led to it? Maybe you had an epiphany about how to shoot better product photos or perhaps you revamped your titles and tags. Or maybe you changed course and started selling a new product. Whatever the change, big or small, tell us about what led to your first sale.

If I’m interested in learning more about your experience, I’ll reach out to you directly. Excited to hear your stories and tips!

Thanks y’all,
Tess

Re: How did you make your first sale?

My first sale was actually an old coworker. My second was from someone who saw one of my tiktoks making Colorado signs and requested a custom sign for their parents for Christmas. I was excited but no reviews have been left on any purchases and things have gone downhill sadly. Hope things pick up some how.

Re: How did you make your first sale?

I opened my shop in November and so far has made 2 sales. I will admit that when I saw my first order I felt happiest. After few hours I started wondering how to ship a tray. I will admit I did not made much profit from first sale but I will still very happy and Thankful. I am not a very social media user person and so finding it little hard to bring traffic to my store. I think I am a shy introvert and trying my luck by creating tiktok page. LOL! I am working everyday to create my art pieces and putting them regularly but I wish marketing was little easier.

Re: How did you make your first sale?

Hi there!

I’m new to Etsy (it’s been about 3 weeks now) so at the moment I’m still waiting for my first sale. I’m not too concerned though, it’s given me time to read forums, get my titles, tags, photos and policies all set up etc. It’s all a learning curve but I feel like my store is getting there now! Hoping it won’t be too much longer until I make that first sale.

Best of luck to you all with your stores!

Phil

Just as an update, I’ve made my first sale! To say I was excited is an understatement!

Thanks

Re: How did you make your first sale?

Hello from Madrid!

I opened the store a few days after I went into quarantine, somewhere in late August I started applying from what I read on eRank and of course what I learned from an angel in a team who noticed how many mistakes and inconsistencies there are in my listings. The wave took me and I changed all the titles and labels. I don't know if it was a mistake or not, but in the following weeks google did not find any product for me  I finally made the first sale in November....and the feeling...YEEEE... is indescribable. At the moment I have only one client who, to my joy, constantly returns. I'm in a supersaturated niche and I refuse to make the same products I see in other stores although. I often think it would help me to have an evergreen product because the feeling of giving up is ubiquitous, too often I've come to say that probably only I see them special when in reality they are horrible.

I wish you all, many buyers and happy sale!

Cristiana

Re: How did you make your first sale?

I made my first sale this past August. It was very exciting to see the notification on my phone app. It gave me the confidence to know I had a good product. I’m now at 21 sales which is good considering my price point start at around $45. Setting high goals for 2022!

Re: How did you make your first sale?

When we made my first sale, I was very excited and immediately shared it with my wife. I didn't think this place was different from other marketplaces, but I was wrong.
Now every time an order comes, I get as excited as I was at our first sale.
I love esty's working environment and you dear seller. Thank you so much for everything...
