How are your views?

Just wondering how everyone's views are? Mine are so variable lately, and have been next to nothing today and I'm not sure why :o/

Bleh. 50-100, sometimes more like 30, even with promoting on multiple teams multiple times a day, making treasuries, visiting and promoting others' treasuries, pinning and tumbling and facebooking and tweeting and waneloing (and not just my own stuff) and tweaking tags and titles and adding 2 items every single day...

I'm exhausted from all the effort that doesn't seem to be budging my stats an inch. I'm having one of those days where I'm thinking my stuff is just stupid and not what people are looking for. I mean, I get like 20 search views a day, maybe.

Sorry. I'm just having a crappy day in my head. I'm sure it will pass! :)

Christina you're not alone, don't worry :o)
I'm considering closing sometime during early to mid 2014. I just don't have enough energy or time for all the constant work that is required to maintain what I have managed up to now, and I'm not sure it's worth the hours and hours I put in every day. This is not a spur of the moment remark, but one that i've been considering for a while. I guess you get to a point where you have to weigh up the pro's and cons.

I completely understand your frustration Christina, and sincerely hope it picks up for you and everyone else here :o)

Not much going on in my shop today...I'm glad I've been out most of the day and will be enjoying a Bday celebration this evening...SO, I won't be able to check on my stats as often as I might if I were going to be home.
I'm taking a deep breath; hopefully tomorrow will bring some action.

I had 4 sales this week but only about 200 views, i'm really hoping that this week will be awesome for sales and views both!!

I understand. I've been working my rear off with SEO, tweeting, blogging, coupons, teams, fb, analytics, etc.

I haven't had time to create, photograph, edit, or upload new items. And I would love to start making the new things I sketched.

It is a constant war in my head to either close up shop in the spring or stick it out.

Frustrating. My views were never awesome -- under 100 a day. But now they are non-existent like under 10 some days.

Hi Sam! It's been awhile!

I'm sorry you're having slow days and low views sometimes, and I'm in the same boat. Has improved a bit since listing my new line of ornaments, and sales have been better, but it is slow going. I don't know the reasons or the solutions either. Wish I did.

Really would be sad to see you close your shop! I know you put in so much work, and when it isn't paying off it's so discouraging. But I hope you won't leave us! Hoping everything gets better as Christmas approaches for all of us.

I just have to say "wow" your pieces are AMAZING! Really stunning! The shop is looking so brilliant. I often wonder how people with so much talent like yourself isn't rushed off her feet with orders, leaves me clueless :0/ thank you for the message Penny is was so lovely to hear from you, it's been such a long time.

It's sad to see everyone is trying so hard but getting little reward. Is it me or is it worse this year?

I will absolutely keep my fingers crossed for everyone here and hope that the bad phase ends and things really pick for you all

Something's happened!

My shop was going really well and I was feeling really pleased. I was beginning to think that this was the big Christmas rush that everyone was talking about and then suddenly, overnight, everything seems to have slowed down.

It's far too early for Christmas shopping to be over, so I'm a bit confused.

I don't know how people manage to give up their full time jobs to sell on Etsy? But what I do know is you have to spend an awful lot of time promoting your store to get the sales in.

When I stop to consider the amount of time I spend on creating, promotion, listing, photographing and editing for my shop, compared to the amount of sales I get, I'm paying myself a very poor wage.

I think it's different for suppliers and vintage sellers because they don't have to take into account the time it takes to design and create their items.

Having said all that, I absolutely LOVE what I do, so much, that I won't be throwing in the towel just yet.

I've never had that many views as I have this month. About 300-400 a day without promoting in teams. I'm posting on my facebook page, but most views are coming from search. I have 2 or 3 sales every day. November rocks for me, hopefully it will stay like this. On the other hand, all these orders demand SO MUCH time, and I can hardly find it...

I'm thinking the same too. The last few months it's been like getting blood out of a stone for views etc, and I working way too hard for the results I'm getting.

Helen, you hit the nail on the head with everything you said it was literally overnight, what happened?

i am like yourself I like to create too, so i am thinking I may just make much less and give them to my friends and family instead.

Sam, I had a look at your shop and its adorable!! I've favourited it. You're not too far from me either!

Do you think we all keep going because it's such a buzz and a compliment when someone wants to buy what we make? I'm delighted every time I get a sale and it drives me to want to do it again.

Now, I must get off here and go to bed. I'm on call tonight for my 'other' job, so I need to try and get some sleep:)

Yeah I think your absolutely right Helen, when buyers love something you make so much it makes you want to make more, it's a wonderful feeling.

mine are terrible. i can't seem to get anyone to notice my shop. my only views are when I post new items in team threads. i know i need more items, but any other ideas would be appreciated....

Mine are so so crappy. Some days I'll barely get any other days I'll get about 100. Today I'm in between both.

Sam, my best customers are from the USA and I have sold to other parts of the world as well.

I think there are a huge amount of people in the UK who don't even know that Etsy exists. Most of my friends hadn't even heard of Etsy before I opened my shop.

It would be really good if we could spread the word and make Etsy as well known in this country as it is in other parts of he world. Then, we would have more potential customers?

Also, I think sellers in this country should be more supportive of each other and help to promote each others shops.

Vrndavana, I promote mainly through Etsy teams, Pinterest, Facebook and Tumblr. Though I do find Facebook frustrating, as most of my posts don't seem to reach many people and I don't want to pay money to boost them.

I'm glad to find this thread as I had been feeling really worried and
discouraged also. I haven't been open 3 weeks yet, but when noone
is buying your stuff and you need to stock your shop, you wonder if you are creating something that people will actually buy... It is very costly for me to create each new design and I worry that I will stock my shop with a bunch of items that I cannot sell. I'm thinking I have to make smaller prints with lower price points that people can purchase more easily. I am trying SO hard to keep my prices accurate to the time and materials used... but now I see how much promotional time that is needed and my prices are already high.

I want to encourage everyone to keep up the great work with their shops
and I hope that the coming weeks bring you many sales and a more positive feeling!!
