Just a quick question about the coupons on etsy. If you give a customer a 10% off coupon does that 10% off apply to a single item or if they purchase multiple items will they get 10% off the total amount?
Sorry Casi, unfortunately I cannot answer your question, but I would like to add a question, is this coupon relevant for one purchase only or is it usable until it expires?
I'm referring to giving a customer a 10% off coupon for a one time purchase, but say during that one time purchase they buy 3 items..so will 10% only apply to 1 item or the total of the 3 items.
They would be able to apply it at checkout, which would take 10% off their entire order. You could let them know it is for one item only, if you are giving it to a specific person I guess...
No I don't believe it is, unless the buyer only purchases the one item. I'd suggest a 40% refund on one item after they've purchased on say the most expensive item maybe.
Casi, Etsy coupons are applied to the entire shop.
One way to make sure your customer uses it for only one item is to write this clearly in your message - mention that the coupon can be used for only ONE item and is not applicable on multiple purchases.
Other options are to offer a fixed dollar amount coupon as Cecilia suggested or give a refund as Sam said.
I just made free shipping coupon and made my first sale (yay). But the customer didn't use the code. She said she didn't know about it although my coupon is active and I've put the code in the shop announcement. I send her a message asking did something went wrong and she said that it's ok and that she will pay for shipping. But I'm considered about the fact that she didn't found out about it at all when she was purchasing an item. I've never bought anything from Etsy so I don't know how do coupons really work. I'm worried that this doesn't happen to someone who actually wants to use the coupon?
I haven't had any customers use coupons yet, but I am a fairly new shop. Are there certain types of coupons that seem to get a better response or ones that customers and/or sellers like better? I've started sending a thank you coupon with every purchase, but that's about it.
Give her a set $ discount. For example, if the item is $100, offer her a coupon code for $40 off. You can set the minimum purchase, so that it cannot be used on a $50 item. Hope that makes sense. Erica
