How accurate are Shop Stats?

Early ths morning, I got a sale on my other shop, always a good thing.

When I looked at the stats for that shop however, it was showing no view for the hour of the sale nor the two hours before.

It is obvious to me I must have had at least one view. So now I'm wondering, just how accurate are Etsy stats.

Anyone else see anomalies like this?

The shop stats just report the change in number of views recorded for the item. I've noticed before that I've had no views on items that were favourited, even after I've sent friends to look at the pages. I suspect the count is wrong some times.

The $ total is often wrong too. I don't know why this is when Craftopolis always gives me the right numbers and they pull those straight from Etsy.

Shop Stats are pretty accurate, but sometimes it takes a little while for the Stats to "catch up" to current activity. It seems that with revenue, it doesn't show up until an hour or two later...sometimes not until the next day. It's working, and it's accurate, but it's slow.

Also, try craftcult.com (heart-o-matic tab at the top) for additional stats and charts (heart charts).

I wonder, too, if someone views your item, puts it in their cart, and leaves it there for a few days. Then, they decide to buy it, but never actually reopen or re-look at it? It wouldn't show up as a current view, because it's been lurking in their cart...? I don't know, just wondering...?

I was wondering the same thing, because my stats seem to jump around throughout the day as well.

Was wondering how someone can favorite a hat yet the hat had no views. And why does Stats give one number for shop views but Google Analytics gives another?

I don't know but when I look at yesterdays stats there is an explanation point next to the views number and when I click on it it says "We are missing some data for this date range". I sure hope they're missing some data because my views for yesterday were way lower than normal for my shop and today I have no views yet... which is also not normal.

Davs - I had that exclamation point too!

I think that people can also "favorite" an item directly from their activity feed (for example) and just click on the heart based on the thumb-nail photo without actually going TO the item. That would also happen if you had posted it in a team and they just automatically "favorited" it without going to it.

Me too! It showed zeros from 6-11pm and I know I was getting views.

I occasionally will favorite an item without visiting the item's page. I imagine other people do, too... Which would explain why the views don't go up.

I have gotten views from websites that were not related to my pieces. I went there and didn't see any links. Just wierd.
